Trouble Installing Packages With Opkg

I am pretty noob when it comes to the Pineapple Mark IV (having only owned it for 3 days  ), so I was pretty lost when I got an md5 error trying to install sslstrip and tcpdump via ssh on my Mark IV.

I ssh'd into my pineapple, ran opkg update then ran opkg install sslstrip (I also attempted to install it to my USB drive with the same results). This is the outcome of trying to install any package with opkg:

root@Pineapple:~# opkg install sslstrip
Installing sslstrip (0.7-1) to root...
Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/packages/sslstrip_0.7-1_ar71xx.ipk.
Collected errors:
 * opkg_install_pkg: Package sslstrip md5sum mismatch. Either the opkg or the package index are corrupt. Try 'opkg update'.
 * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package sslstrip.

Here is additional information that may help someone diagnose my issue:

Pineapple Hardware Version (ex: Mark III, Mark IV, etc.): Mark IV

Pineapple Software Version (ex: Shmoocon Beta, 1.0, etc.): 2.3.1

OS used to connect to the pineapple: OSX/BackTrack

Is the problem repeatable (Yes/No): Yes, occurs after reboot as well

I tried my best researching this error on the forums here and on Google with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Thanks for the reply! I have run 'opkg update' before every install attempt with no luck. I was originally attempting to install it to my USB drive but tried the Pineapple for troubleshooting purposes.

I think it's odd that I wasn't able to find anyone who ran into this problem, could something have happened on the repositories' end? I'm wondering if maybe I tried installing while they were having issues. Unfortunately I can not try again for 5 more hours when I get out of work, but I'm hoping I just hit a fluke last night.

It is possible, don't give up :)

make sure of this :

. you are able to ping 8.8.8.8 from mk4

. you have the usb mounted correctly

. you have enough space on the usb

Good luck :)

Olas,

I had this same problem with sslstrip last night. I ran the update / install again and it worked today.

It seemed like they change the Packages (http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/packages/Packages) file before they update the ipk's. I think this is where the disparity between the md5sums came from.

If this happens again for you. You can always download the ipk from "http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/packages", check the md5sum, edit /var/opkg-lists/snapshots to reflect the calculated md5sum and try installing again. I would reccommed against this, just in case there is a problem with the ipk.

This was my suspicion and you confirmed it! I am able to successfully install packages with opkg today. Thanks everyone for your help, looks like it was just bad timing for me laugh.gif
