t0t4l_4cc3ss
I am learning Linux scripting right and was wondering if anyone had any recommendation of what to learn next. My goal is to be a network administrator. Also is there a good book to read for networking? I understand IP addressing and subnet masking and I grasp the bare essentials of port forwarding. Thanks for you time.
CPU_Jazz
As an Sys or network admin scripting is very important so keep working on that. I would say a popular language these days is Python and it is very versatile. Perl is good and most Unix systems come with perl support by default, there are extensions to do just about anything with Perl.

justapeon
Though still just a beginner, the more I learn about bash and dash, I become amazed at what exec, sed, awk, grep, and etc. can do. I see a lot of python scripts google code, so there much be something to it.
Sitwon
Here are some good resources that I've been compiling. All the resources listed have been vetted by professionals developers and are considered accurate or even canonical by their respective language communities. http://learnproglang.couch.it/
