Antenna For Backtrack 5 Question

Hi all

First off

Love the show keep it up and love the new HakTips episodes they are awesome

Now to my question

I currently have alfa AWUS036NH with default Antenna

I am looking for a new Antenna for it to get a bit more range out of it

here is a couple im looking at

Will it work with backtrack 5 and the aircrack suite i take it wont use my alfa card or can it

Im Open to suggestions

Antennas will work as long as the connector is the same for your card/adaptor.

If you look at the specs of your alpha you will see this...

Antenna Type 1 x 2.4Ghz RP-SMA connector

So you will need a 2.4 Ghz RP-SMA antenna. RP-SMA is the connector type. The first antenna you posted is an N connector. Unless you buy an adapter (like i did to fit a RP-SMA onto an N connector router) then that won't work.

dealextreme.com has some cheap antennas. They will take a while to get to you.

The one off ebay looks a bit suspesious but the long tube one from Amazon is fine. I have one, slightly different version but when it arrived I realised it needed an adapter. This

But works fine with the adapter and Alfa.

Looks like a RPSMA to F Connector. That works fine as long as you get the adapters. I have a Linksys WRT54GL with F connectors for the antennas. Bought a 5 dollar adapter and hooked it up to my big RPSMA antenna mount.
