Tcstool
So here's what I'm looking for...Figured you guys might have some feedback: I need some print server software that will keep copies of the documents sent to the hosted printers. My preference is Free/Open source software, but I can live with commercial software as long as it's cheap. Is anyone familiar anything out there that can accomplish this? VaKo
Windows 2003/2008 will probally do this, and for free stuff there is CUPS.
DingleBerries
I would us the Debian Business card edition w/ out a gui and install NFS and Samba sudo apt-get nfs-common sudo apt-get install nfs-kernel-server You can also enable SWAT, Samba Web Admin Tool so that you can control it. You can also use magic scripts, i am pretty sure that this will do the trick. Because a new copy of the smbd daemon is created for each connecting client, it is possible for each client to have its own customized configuration file. a2ps - will print the specified file to the printer as Postscript Maybe use this command to save them to a directory that relates to the clients i.p. address, so you can find out who printed what. I have never set up a networked printer, but now am pretty interested, your idea is great. If i get time i will try this and post my steps. LINKS 1. http://www.aboutdebian.com/lan.htm 2. Tcstool
Definitely let me know. I'll play with this when I have a little time. I've got something Black Hat-ish I'm wanting to try with this.
