AVG is out of date, a sure sign of OS neglect. Even if you fix the problem, you have set yourself up to bring it right back down again.
-
well thats your choice, i don't relay care. having people email me is a very easy way to keep this organized
I emailed you to get a link. How is it my choice weather you send me a link or not.

This stuff started for back when there were games with no xbox live. It tricked the xbox into thinking it was a lan game, when it was actually online, so people who have original Halo but the inability to throw a lan party were covered. As the games evolved, so did the service. Sometimes you just want to do some custom, non-ranked non-servermade games with other people you don't know just for fun, and this offers it. Its also a great environment for people who modify games to test their creations on a large scale.

It IS interesting to me, I was one of the first people to sign up, yet, I have yet to get a link.
-
At least diagnose it to avoid the conflict in the future.
-
ill let 1000 people in! if they email, they get link. once 15 people have sighned up, the link goes to them and anybody after. once theres a stable realse, it will be posted here. and its not to much work one simple email? copy and pasting my email will take as long as to post a message, saying its stupid
That explains why I haven't got a link yet....

I had the same problem with my XP desktop. Check for rouge service settings, like auto restart on service fail. Sometimes, these settings kill Explorer.EXE rapidly. Good luck, you'll need it.

yah, I got a ton of email with the subject "lol wut" from kiuserver. Could this be the k1u we know?
Did you recently sign up on his site or give him your email? If so, then its a possibility given his hostility towards people lately.
Your email is posted publicly on your profile. You might wnat to change this in the future. Especially on a site like this, you never know what people might come here to harvest them.
I'll change that...

does it have a floppy drive, and if so, is it working? You can use the win98 floppy to format the hdd and then copy the floppy contents over to the hdd, then edit(id dos) the config files to point to c: instead of a: and when it boots, you will be in dos(using a ramdrive) from the hdd. Then you can load drivers for the cdrom drive and then install windows. once windows is installed, delete the win98 boot files and it should boot off the hdd. I had to do this with an older compaq laptop in order to load windows 98 on it because the cdrom and floppy shared a swappable slot, I had to get the floppy boot files onto the hdd and then swap the fdd with the cdrom, then install windows.
Hope you understand what I mean, but ti was a pain in the ass to get it done the first time around, thinking back to it, you shoul dbe able to do the same thing only instead of win98 cdrom, just use the win98 floppy files in combo with the win95 cdrom. It should work for you so long as you can get ahold of a win98 floppy and the lappy has one that works.
It has a floppy that doesn't work. I popped the HDD out, hooked it to a Windows 98 (SE) through USB, and drag-dropped the contents of a bootable Win98 floppy to the HDD (making sure I was displaying hidden files). The laptop didn't recognize the HDD as a system disk. Is there a way I can get Win98 to make a disk connected through USB into a boot disk?
Hook it up to a computer that can boot from a cd and boot linux. Toggle the bootflags, and try it again.

Ya!! I just got it fixed. Re-installing the optical drive did the trick. In the process, however, I discovered that the customer did not update the virus database seance 2004 (:)). I used ad-aware, and found 40 viruses... Thanks for the help.
On another note, can this be locked?

It was a recently installed drive. According to the customer, it didn't work on the previous one either...
Bad cable with the drive? Did it come with a new cable for the CDrom or did he decide to use the old cable. Might have damaged the MOBO with ESD when installing the new drive or messing with the old drive before you showed up.
Used the old cable he says
Also check for malware, because adware/spyware/viruses can screw with optical drives under Windows. You might want to try updating the drive's firmware too.Okay, his AV is crap :0. I'll use calm portable when I see him next.
After checking the cables, and if the problem persists, I would suggest you take out the drive any try installing it on another PC so that you can eliminate the original PC as the source of the problem. That way you'll be able to narrow down the problemI don't have any pcs to test it on. I use laptops, and the pc I have doesn't have any spare IDE channels.

TCP optimizer will fix it...

well?Java is easy. C[++] stomps all over Java in speed.
Which one of these is the one you can compile and write to the boot sector of a computer and it would just display "Hello World"?
Now that is a waste of assembly...
How is that a waste? Do you even understand what that is?
Yes.....
how is it a waist?
Erasing a boot sector to print hello world on a screen...
