if you can boot from a live cd then yes reinstall ubuntu but if it dont work i reckon you might half to shoot the laptop

what OS? if its XP i would first suggest you repair it with the windows cd. ive had it where harddrive just don't boot any more on xp and it you reinstall/repair windows it works again.

i've used hamachi for virtual networking and it works ok try hamachi

standard computers aren't meant to be bouncing around in the car anyway so you'll have alot of death beeps happening so just buy a laptop if you want a car computer

with realtek you'll have the audio adjuster for the sound card just open it and see if its set as a mic more often then not it'll be a line out

to run a standard box computer in your car you need 240v because your power supply reduces it to the required voltage for each compoent.

car only has 12 volts you need to get a 240 volt adapter that runs from your battery to your computer then you can use your computer in the car

i think most non-programmers just think they will wack a bunch of code together and have an operating system. don't work like that.
