  1. Well you can write the code in Vim or Notepad, or any other text editor.

    Compiler depends on your platform and/or programming language you are writing it in.

    Examples:

    Win / (C, C++) = Dev-C++ | Visual Studio

    *nix / (C, C++) = gcc + Vim

    Anyway, I think that would be to much work for something like that. Maybe you should just check in the options of the program you want to mute.

  2. It doesn't suck, because you don't need to open another aplication...

    On the other hand, yes it is quite annoying, I vote we move it to a separate page too. (maybe some of the admins could ad a pool)

  3. What is a good linux distro to start out on if your new too linux

    I'm new to GNU/Linux too, and I found SUSE to be very easy to use, you just have to get familiar with YaST. Installation is a lot easier compared to Windows install (which is easy too). I Googled up a little and found this www.suseforums.com forum, that was very helpful.

    But I don't see the reason why you should be scared of other distros, I tried to install Slackware and was quite easy (check http://www.bitbenderforums.com/vb22/showth...p?postid=311808 for step by step installation). As for installing new programs just read the README carefully.
