  1. I think that's why you have the usb connected with the wordlist to try to crack it ... I remember darren talking about doing this in one of the shows. Having a good word list so you would be able to see if you could get in using the pineapple... That would be a good project to work on.

  2. OMG for a moment I was very upset and pissed off. I thought my laptop had a serial port but nooooo ... Thank god I had a extra pc that had XP on it with a com1 installed. I followed the video steps. Some things needs to be updated like hitting enter on certain parts to bring up the menu rather then letting it sit there.

I am soooo gratefull my pineapple is working... Thank you everyone for helping me out, and thank you to the Mr-Protocol for the tutorial on how to fix it.

Now it's time to setup and start playing around with it.

  3. Keep in mind, it's not a serial com port that can work directly off your computer's 9-pin connector. You need a UART adapter and that is what connects to the pineapple. You can get either USB to UART, or Serial to UART (Like the Alfa console board).

But typically, jibberish means wrong baud settings.

Also make sure you have parity turned off (no parity).

Do you have the link to the USB to UART you are talking about. I bought the serial one thinking that's the only one I could've used...Then thinkig how am i going to reset the device if I don't have a serial connection on my new hp laptop... UGH@@@@@@@@

The usb would of been better should of asked!

  4. What i suggest and you do is keep your windows machine the way it is. You might need it just load vmware or virutalbox and run the ubuntu from there. Trus tme much easier and better.

One other thing to do is download truecrype and encrypt your whole drive. that way if you lose it or something comes up you won't be to scared if someone found something they shouldn't see or if you want to keep your privacy to yourself only.

    Just my suggestion.

  5. After figuring out my root password I was able to see what firmware I currently have. At the moment I'm on "Firmware verision 2.0.0". I notice there's a new on new verision out 2.5.0 is out. Well I was able to download the upgrade.bin file. Went to the upgrade.php page and hit upgrade. On the top left hand corner I'm getting "Error, MD5Sum does not match" do I need to enter something in the MD5Sum: box since it's blank?

After waiting a couple minutes I said let me enter the MD5sum number that the new firmware has. Well it did something but now the WPS is not flashing nor the wlan is really light... Did i just turn my pineapple into a brick? I hope I didn't but any advice would be great.

  6. I'd ask what version of the firmware you're running but seeing as you can't login... At this point I'd say just contact shop at hak5 dot org and request an exchange. Doesn't take long. I'll put your unit on a serial board when it comes in and see if I can't diagnose it. Curious if there was a bug in the passwd function of an older version or something. Sorry bud.

I'm having the same issue that the reset button is not working. I email the shop5 email address hopefully I could get a replacement. I just used it 2 times, and still has the protected plastic around it...

  7. Hello All,

I looked around the forum and tried different things. A couple weeks I upgraded the pineapple to the current firmware and I was able to log in. Well after weeks of working so much I thought I new the password still but with no luck i forgot. I looked around the forum on how to reset the password but can't figure it out. I press the reset button for about 7 sec, nothing. Someone else said to hold it down for 10-12 sec that didn't work.

What is the proper way of resetting the device back to when I first received it? I tried for about 3 hours now looking around the web and on the forum.

Any kind of help would be good.

One other thing I notice Darren said something about the script that reset the password might not work on one of the post back.

  8. thank you both. I started to read about vmware ESXI and seen some videos on it. Looks good, it's almost like setting up vmware workstations but ESXI you have multi of of them running at the same time. Regarding the router I tried to find out if my switch is layer 3 but can't figure out where. But I'm able to create lan's The one I have is a linksys SRW2008P Business Series.

My job just told me that I need to get my MS cert 70-680. So a vmware would be really good. Just finding a good hardware to run it. What do you guys think about this? it's a

It just hard trying to learn on your own and see what works. I think that's why I'm the kind of tech guy that like to see it then do it. ...

thank's again for helping me out.

  9. Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or point me in the right direction. what I'm trying to do is create a test lab at home. What I need the lab at home is to test out pentest OS, linux OS, and Metasplot. run some ubuntu on it and, some studing to get cert on MS and other things.

At the moment I have just got a switch at home with 8 ports that I'm about to create different vlans for it. I was able to figure that out after 2 weeks of reading and configuring it. Now I like to setup a lab at home. Do I need multi machines on or just one main machine with a log of diskspace...

Any example you guys have or links would really help me.

    thank you,

  10. It's an ALFA, AG-2424 I believe. It's about $50-60 retail. We'll have 'em in the HakShop eventually. Just....they're BIG. Fun as hell though.

Well if you tell Shannon to order one I will be the first one to buy it... that would be perfect to put outside my home office window and see what I could pick up.

Hey darren what kind of mount was that? Would you happen to have the url where you guys purchase it?

  11. http://hakshop.mysho...neapple-booklet

Says it is a free download on the shop. I would encourage people to buy it if they wanted a hard copy. (instead of download and print) Support Hak5!

I'm ordering it from the site. It looks better plus need to get some other things also.

Other thing would you happen to know on the antenna he used on the hill where did he buy it or are they going to sell it at the hak shop?
