  1. Hey there...

I'm looking around for an old script kiddy type tool/program that was created by a member of the Progenic.com crew, Dark Pain.

Basically the program ran a web server that portscanned anyone connecting to your ip and then redirected them to any predetermined website that you choose.

Like I said script kiddie, but it was useful.

I think it was called servx or serverx...something like that.

How hard would it be to code something like this?

  2. Well I don't know that much and I blame that on my life being put on hold for a year while myself and my family get our lives sorted out...nuthin that bad...anyways I digress.

My point is yeah learn the ins and outs of Microsofts world...their server offerings, exchange, small business server etc.

Linux IS a lot of fun, but the majority rely on Microshaft to get them by.

I guess it really depends on what you want to do.

It can be a hard decision at times, should you be a jack of all trades and a master of none?

Do you want to use your knowledge for employment?...if so specialise in one area.

Just my 2 cents, yeah it's a bit daunting at times.

I guess my best advice?....setup a home server first...linux or windows 2003 or whatever you can errr torren...umm get your hands on. Configure it...get it running some services and then maybe do a little system enumeration with your mac or whatever else you have....maybe a little packet sniffing....etc.

    It's be a start anyways :)

  3. Nice idea...lots of guides around tho....just wondering where you would conceal the antenna...or not.

A book is a brilliant disguise, don't get me wrong...but it may look funny with an antenna sticking out of it.

Unless you connect an alternative antenna and have it lay along, inside the spine of the book.

  4. Hi Guys,

I've been browsing about and cannot find any outlet for Fon in Australia :(

Only a website that offers the Fon software for your own router, which i don't want to do.

So where's the love for the aussies?....i was prepared to spend $60aud for this thing, but even the usa doesn't ship here.

    What can we do?

  5. It's inevitable...no matter what government is in power...in todays current economic and social climate. The government will always want to control and regulate what it percieves to be a threat to conformity.

  6. Although i see the value and joy of having an episode each week, i find that i'm just dowloading the episodes each week and storing them on my media box and telling myself "i'll get to that later". Y'know, i never used to be that way, each month i just couldn't wait for the next episode. Now, well it's just download, skip through it....store it, yeah i'll get to it.

    Kinda makes me sad really.

Then i've noticed a lot of new "faces" around the forums and while this is great for building the community up, i guess there's been a lot of, well, silly comments and questions about the place.

I guess if you want subtitles for any language for each episode, maybe people out there could take it upon themselves to DIY.

Frankly, i'm an Aussie and well, as long as the yanks keep speaking english....(and i can't see that changing in a hurry:) ) i'm satisfied with hak5 episodes not having subs, sign language or virtual braille.

yeah so...there's my sunday morning rant.

  7. Could it have possibly been a result of your email address being harvested by God knows what on the internetz??

Make up a second email account for "subscription purposes" and keep your other email address as private as you can...but even that's never a guarantee that your not going to cop a shafting.

  8. I've often used my skills at customer service to gleam tidbits of information from people that they wouldn't normally give out.

I try to practise this stuff harmlessly on people at supermarkets, shop assistants etc..

Nothing underhanded here just bits and piece's like for example, if i notice someone's keys in their hands i'll pass a playful comment on how i'm having issues with my "insert motor vehicle marque" and then try to gather the make, year colour etc etc...

Of course u need to have some idea what your on about..

    Just little stuff like that.

  9. i use facebook mainly to catch up with old friends...apart from my IRL name, i share very little else....i know that technically people have to be friends to view your details but i'm more concern with the information made available to government agencies under various laws, acts and policies ...

yeah maybe i'm a little anal about it but hey...there it is
