    tried all this, problem first arose after nano update as mentioned in my other post, after the update it wouldnt work in my nano, even installing the rt drivers didnt work, nor did sebs method, so i dont know whats going on, kali doesnt see it, not listed under lsusb and also windows sees it but as unrecognized persuming thats down to drivers tho, although i thought windows would have just known what it was

    ok so im stumped, have installed the ralink-fw for the 5370 yet my kali machine will still not detect this adaptor, the hak5 site states this adaptor works with kali yet for me its not, i have other adaptors but i like how small this is

    I agree with RKiver, what exactly do you want to do, Pentesting has such a broad field, ie exploits, wifi, password cracking, web applications, DB attacks etc, there is so much to learn that if you try do it all at once you will end up hating it.

    my job requires me to do alot of different test but i favour Wifi/mitm, forensics amd recon (information gathering).

    I would do as said above, install virtual labs and start with the basics like learning how tools like nmap work and then work your way upwards.

    you run a handler on the attacking computer, it sits and listens and when your payload is activated in the target computer, it will send a session back to the handler with a open connection, providing you have set the payload up correctly with attacker ip/port etc it will connect.

    remember as soon as you go off the local connectiom the payload will not work unless you have setup port forwarding or a dynamic dns name

    Having recently bought the nano i often find myself looking at my mark v and thinking "what a sexy piece of kit" with its long ariels and huge power bank mmmm :) anyway lol what can i do with it now, what has everyone else done with theres, whats a good project to resurrect this thing of beauty :)

    So my pet hate at the moment is VMs parental controls, we have it enabled because of the kids and because of this it blocks this forum ?? it does offer the option to specify certains sites to be allowed, but guess what, hak5 is not one of them lol, complete blanket ban on anything hacking related when filter is on, so unfortunatley I have to run a vpn to access the forum, I dont really mind because i like to be a bit secure but sometimes i just want a quick visit to the forum without speed lags, oh well thanks VM

    After having dual boot for a while, I decided to have a change and switched to persistant usb, easy enough to setup and seemed ok for a couple of days, then it just went pear shaped, really laggy, problems with updates etc, not sure what was the problem but quick enough just to back up my few scripts and reinstall, this time i went for a full install but to a 1TB SS USB HDD, this seems much more stable, not to mention after having partitioned it all I now have a 1TB drive i can carry around with 750GB portable storage along with a fully fledged updated version of Kali in the same place, seemed like a win win until i realised that knocking the HDD or cable would cause Kali to crash lol, oh well we cant win at everything :)
