I don't have a Mk2, but as SOP, you should never flash or reset a device on battery power. Check www.wifipineapple.com to see if the Mk2 flashing guide is still on the wiki. Otherwise, Seb or Darren might be able to help you. :)

Kristof: From what I've gathered from reading peoples posts, irc, and my own experience, it's kind of hit or miss. My Mk3 usually functions fine on a USB battery, but sometimes I guess it can't draw enough power. I've also had different success rates with different cables. One that I made myself usually works fine, while a factory made cable doesn't always work...

bobtheman: Not exactly. If you are closer to the "possible" client, karma will respond to the probe request before the "legitimate" AP. Therefore, he will join your network instead of the "legitimate" one. This might be thwarted however if the "legitimate" AP broadcasts a stronger signal. Then it is pretty much luck of the draw. :)

hfam: I do the ping xxx -t as well. That way I can watch it go down and come back up and I can know what's happening better.

I just got my mark 4 in the mail today and I tried reseting it and then flashing it. When I am running Freifunk Ap51 EasyFlash, I keep getting the error " stderr:Non ARP received. Make sure the device is connected directly. " I am using the plug it came with and ive tried with two different Ethernet cables. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Apparently pewpew beat me to it. I get distracted easily... :D
Download the new firmware from: http://wifipineapple.com/doku.php?id=mk4firmware
Boot up the pineapple.
Navigate to 172.16.42.1/pineapple in your webbrowser
Click on the Upgrade tab
Click browse
Select the upgrade.bin file
Click Upgrade
Let the pineapple work its magic!
*DO NOT UNPLUG IT WHILE FLASHING*

Yeah, I usually use heatshrink, but I was out. Oh well. I'll just have to redo it when I get more.

Whistle Master: Seb will be able to confirm weather or not this is correct, but from your screen shot, you don't have karma turned on and therefor your there is nothing for the report to add when it generates.

So, after some testing, I noticed it wasn't working on my Mk3 either. I opened up my taping job and found the the soldered wired had melted through the electrical tape.
The white spot in the middle of the tape is where this had happened. Once I separated the 2 wires, it ran fine...
My Mk3 ran last night until until the battery ran out. My Mk4 has been running fine for around 45 min now...
(Yes, I suck at soldering :) )

I had no problem using my New Trent IMP1000 battery pack with my Mk3, but I just tried it with my Mk4, and am having some problems... I'm going to do more testing though

digininja: That is an amazing idea! Now I have another reason to finally get a Yagi! bahahaha...
-
xtronic: I have already upgraded and am having no problems. Just do it! It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn! :P

Big antenna?
Home made omni.
I have a couple antennas like that from my "real" work. :P I need to find some N-type to rp-sma cables!

We were told that the new firmware should be released today, but as far as I know, it hasn't been yet. Just be patient (I know it's hard, I've been waiting in anticipation and been checking all day!), but I'm sure Seb or Darren will have it for us as soon as possible!
-
Thanks Seb! Is there any sort of instructions for using it? As stated in the "Reaver on Mk4" thread, I have no problem in my bt5r2, but it stops on the pineapple. Any ideas?
-
Ah.. Nice! Thanks Seb! You are awesome!
-
Nice! I forgot that it depended on python... Do you know if there has been any progress in adding a small hub and using 3G and mass storage?
-
No problem man!

I'm about the same barry99705. I'm excited to see what Seb has in the works and also for the new firmware! I have to keep reminding myself that Darren and crew are 4hrs behind me. :P

The AirAwesome-ng tab would be well, Awesome! haha... Also, if Airdrop-ng could be added, that would be fun. Since it just deauths everything!

Could you imagine putting a pineapple on a huge antenna somewhere that high? Have always fancied playing with wifi, a large antenna and a high building, not got round to it yet.
That would be EPIC digininja! The only problem with tall buildings is that birds like them and if it has weird access, you could find yourself walking through a few inches of bird poo everywhere you step. (Unfortunately, yes, I do know this from experience) You should definitely play around with it someday. It's fun!

Darren has on order a few different types of cables/adapters to test and he will have them in the HakShop when he finds one he likes.
As Mr-Protocol said.
Also, make sure that if you order one, it comes w/ the cable too and not just the USB part....
(just a suggestion of course) :P

That's awesome! I like the hidden antenna and switch. How much rf loss are you getting from shooting through the case?
-
Yes, I agree xtronic, especially because "similar" devices are a lot more expensive. As illustrated in the above link, the Pwn Plug starts at $250 $480.
