  1. I looked into them a few months ago. You can't install any programs. May or may not be able to set static IPs. It's a "beta" feature. Some people have success, others don't.

I've heard of some people buying it for the "inexpensive" hardware, wiping the sdd, and installing Linux.

  2. It seems to me that people are expecting a "hack-in-a-box" product. With security and pentesting, that is never the case. What "we" as white/gray hat hackers do is point out flaws in the way things are done. It seems that Apple and Android have caught on to type of the issues that are pointed out with the current way karma works. Now we figure out how to exploit the new way they are doing things.

If you don't understand this, you are in the wrong field or have purchased the pineapple for the wrong reason.

  3. FYI: They didn't offer discounts, but they did give us first crack at purchasing the new MKIV.

That said, it'd be AWESOME (Darren, looking in your direction sir!) if they allowed us to pre-order these new MKV's!

DO WANT TWO EM KAY FIVES...NNNAAAAOOOO!! ;)

I suuuuuure hope they have bunch in stock!

Ah. That's right. It's been a while and I can't even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday. Lol.

I agree! It would be awesome if they did that again!!

  4. It could be, but I would hope not. A sim card slot would mean a person had to purchase and register a sim card from a mobile carrier (ie AT&T or Verizon). There would no longer be the anonymity of purchasing one at a brick and mortar store with cash and topping it off whenever you need it.

An SD card would get rid of a USB drive and free up the space for a USB modem or another NIC.

  5. To keep with the speculations, I'll bet there are 2 radios in it. Besides more RAM and maybe a faster processor, this is the only reason I can think of to upgrade the hardware. (Unless I'm missing something. I haven't played with my pineapple in a while. Will definitely get back into it with a new one!)

In keeping with the dual radio guess, the pineapple graphic has changed. If you look at the box in the video and the graphic on the invite, there are 2 "WiFi" symbols around the pineapple instead of just 1 like it is on the hakshop.

  6. Will the live stream be on their YouTube channel?

I'm really interested in this announcement. Better is always better, but I thought the current hardware was chosen due to the fact that it was a beginning of life board.

Have fun with the launch! Like others said, I'm on the east coast, otherwise I'd be there!

  7. Also, directly from the link above.

"Data Alliance offers this AP with the Hornet-UB board, with Pineapple Mark IV firmware wireless router operating system."

Why would they make the above statement on the product page? They also sell just the hardware or the hardware with openwrt for about $10 cheaper.

Have you actually clicked on and read the link I posted?

Or am I completely missing something?

  8. Alfa is the manufacturer, data-alliance is a distributor. Unless they are the same company.

  9. I have purchased 3 ducks from the hakshop and have had issues with 2 of the sd cards that come with them. Your best bet will be to try a different reader (I had issues with one of my readers as well) or just get a new sd card. They are really cheap these days and you don't need a very large one.

I have also read that the hakshop is good at fixing issues, so definitely contact them if replacing something yourself is out of the question. They are good people.
