  1. replace explorer.exe with command.com

    I'm running this in a kiosk mode, so i just replaced it with an invalid path "expoorerr.exe"

    Also the Key in windows 2000 wasn't in the windows NT folder, it was in the windows/current version folder.

    ~Thanks

  2. making standoff can be fairly easy, all you need is some small plastic tubes like this

    202521826_77b6aa21aa.jpg

    instead of threading the top you can just use wood screws.

    Connect all of the standoffs to the mobo, add glue to the bottom and place in the case.(if you want you can alse screw in the standoffs from the bottom of the case.

  3. HOLY CRAP! I'm not the only one that still plays farcry!

    I still play that game! If you want a real challenge play through that game on realistic settings (about 1.5 bullets from any range will kill you). That along with Soldier of Fortune Platinum are permanently installed on my laptop.

  4. Look at the last box on this page

    http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/math/ge...rcleSectors.htm

    What is your input viable? Distance of slicing plane from the center, the edge?

    ---------------

    Here, i just threw together this equation.

    x= distance from center of circle (0<x<r)

    r= radius

    H= height

    diagram.png

    calculations in Degrees

    form2.png

    A=[((2 arccos(x/r))/360 ⋅ πr^2 )-(x⋅√(r^2-x^2 )) ]⋅H

    calculations in Radians

    form2-1.png

    A=[((2 arccos(x/r))/2π ⋅ πr^2 )-(x⋅√(r^2-x^2 )) ]⋅H

    BTW the new math input panel in windows 7 is awesome

  5. Would your calculation need to be for anything other than cylinders?

    If it it just a cylinder, and the cutting plane is always perpendicular the calculation in very easy.

    You just convert the Cylinder to a circle and the cutting plane to a line. You can then computer the two intersections find the distance between the two points and multiply by height.

  6. I've done away with the daft punk (not that I don't like them aneymore, just got tired of seeing the same images over and over again)

    Now have a surreal space theme going.

    th_desktop-2.jpg

    Background changes every 15 minutes.

    Also I captured the PS3 earth visualizer and I use that as my screensaver.

    PS3Space.gif

    PS: really enjoying the newest 64x build of 7

  7. Currently the only way to recored HDCP content over HDMI is with the Gefen DVR/PVR. Nevermind, the company found out the loop hole that allowed protected content to be removed. So there is no viable way to recored HDCP over HDMI (as of now).

    Another way to get HI definition recordings is with component cables, Get a Component cable tuner card. Also some PS3 Component cables.

    Your best and most cost effective option has already been stated by Sparda Using a standard s-video tuner card. It wont be in HD but your doing game walk through, not PS3 vs 360 Graphic comparison.

  8. haha, so putting gum in a key slot would be a DOS attack. Time to start my most evil plan ever, The east cost Wrigley Spearmint DOS attack (WSDOSA). Over 9000 expected to be affected.

  9. It's an automotive jump box. Normally used to jump start a car with the need for jumper cables and another car. (also works to start your car when it's balls cold outside) What I do is it it ever gets lo on juse (I have never gotten ther) I just hook it up the the car battery and have it draw power from the car, instead of giving the car power. ALSO I paid the extra dollar and got the one with the build in DC/AC converter.

    All that runs is the DSL modem and the wireless router. My laptop/psp/web tablet all have batteries so they don't need to be plugged in. Also if there batteries get low I can charge them with this.

    Also @soundguymike, I'm not addicted to the internet, I went without it once for a while, or an hour, or was it a minute?..

  11. Personally, I would love to see a hard drive on the wii, My primary counsel is my PS3 but that dosent stop me from loading up my wii with games from the virutral counsel store. Also I have a strong yearning for the ability to have more downloadable songs for rock band, but In the current state this is not possible, and as this article states, may never be possible.

    why the wii will never get any better -it's a rant, but the author did his research and does bring up some important points.

    Again, I would love to have some sort of external storage for the wii, but if this article is to be believed, it's just not in the books.

    ---------------

    ALSO, like the renderings (epically the first one, seams more practicle/proportional)

    You should give 3DS MAX, It is a VERY powerful program, that has a very reasonable learning curve (until you get to the rely advanced stuff)

    PLUS there is a ton of tutorials for 3ds max.

  12. BAD MAC!! BAD!!!! lol. Yah I remember those things..

    LOL, many people forget that most of the computer labs in elementary schools back in the day were mac's. Most were just to young to remember / the mac's interface was so old it is almost impossible to disambiguate from an old copy of windows. The one thing that sticks out in my mind more clearly than any other memory was the "using the mouse chapter" in first grade computer lab. They had you move the mouse, then they had you pick up the mouse and move it. "Notice how the cursor didn't move this time?".

    Even though My first few years of my technological life were on mac's I can proudly say I have never joined the dark side. (or would it be the pearl white and brushed aluminum side?)

    (I can remember stories from kindergarten/first grade, but cant recall some ones name that just introduced them self. I think it's time for me to reformat/defragment)

  13. First computer that my family had was the the original MACINTOSH.

    180px-Macintosh_128k_transparency.png

    My dads shop was upgrading and they had a few of these things laying around so he took one home. About all it could do was mac paint (in black and white, No grey) and it had a text editor. The keyboard worked fine, BUT to call the mouse "Human interface device" was being a little too generous. It was more of a "slam me on the table to move the cursor to a random location on the screen and repeat until it was close enough" device. I was like... 4-5 years old when we had that thing. I remember using the crap out of it until one day the little smiling faced mac that appears when you turn on the device wasn't smiling anymore.

  14. A friend just send me this link. Apparently there doing a 72 hour marathon of playing 13 different zelda games. The event is to raise money for children's cancer research through the Ally's House Organation. Also if you donate $50+ you get entered into a drawing for a signed Toby Keith picture/hat (idk the audio stream cut out them he was explaining it, they have more info on the forums)
