  1. Hey people, I'm starting work on a project to force myself to learn much more than my school is teaching me (in java anyways). Where I need help is getting started understanding what types of things need to be done to accomplish my goal. I want to make my own server/client app set that i can use my android tablet as a wireless doodle pad on my desktop. What I dont know is where to start on the computer server application side as far as listening to the network and move the mouse with the x,y coordinates i am broadcasting from my tablet. The android side is relatively easy but I just don't know where to start with the other end. if anyone has any good resources or knowledge on the subject it would be much appreciated. what I have already figured is that its going to need a listener to get the information, an interpreter of some sort to take the information sent to it and make use of it, and then the software mouse that takes the information of the moves the courser. again, any ideas/suggestions are appreciated.
  2. there is a way to splice the multi-pin connector with a usb female port and get usb running that way if you dont want to purchase the dock, but that would just look awkward in public. also i've read that if you dont have it running native on the device that some people have had problems with usb, i'm personally keeping my eye on the native ubuntu projects and then once that is finished try the same stuff with BT5. either way I love my transformer and if getting BT5 running on it is the excuse you need to justify buying it, just buy it and get it over with lol.
  3. the best source i've found for htc android devices is forum.xda-developers.com there I was able to help my friend root her evo shift, however as far as i know there are no roms up to 100% (last i checked anyways) there are a few kernals for sense roms though... as always though, be careful and read everything... almost destroyed a few phones just loading stuff without paying attention to what i was doing lol
  4. are you kidding, you could make a couple of docks one for you house one for your car and control your environment from your handy dandy $500 touchscreen mini computer along with some wifi sync so it could even replace your car stereo... or at least your need/want for normal am/fm tuners... its also a portable hard-drive replacement (if you get a good sized micro SD card) for any files you ever need to transfer.... having this device and not using it as a phone is pretty much your life in your pocket and should you break your phone its a life line... now i want a droid X just to do the same thing with a huge screen lol
  5. the droid 2 does it for me.... i need the physical keyboard to type and see everything at the same time, also i dont need all the bells and whistles that come with the new new new droids out there like the X (even though the 2 is newer lol) plus it doesn't look like the power house it is and if I am going to be doing naughty things on my phone i dont want to have the phone people remember seeing... also to answer the question about samsung phones: every previous phone i've had (except for my ATT 8125) was samsung and they are quite nice phones... however they arent the most sturdy phones in the world... i dont know about the one you're talking about, but as long as its not just plastic glued to the frame (like the blackjack series and its descendants were) it should be fine
