What does some1 need to obtain in order to host websites? How does the whole process go?

lol! Believe me I'd like to know the same thing myself. I mean, I'm not puting a gun to any1s head here, but I'd still appreciate if some1 with good excel knowledge looks and my problems and maybe helps with some of them :D BTW I solved 3/5 till now but I used AUX cells and I'm not supposed to have any of those so still working... And please, stop with the jokes and let some1 heeeeelp me :D lol just kidding. Jokes r fine! As u were :D

Yeah, I forgot sorry. There are multiple excel files and each of them has a couple of problems in different sheets. The problems are stated within the sheets themselves so I can't really explain about each of them seperatelly. And another thing... If any1 finds time to solve some... Ok, this may be completely n00bish, but could some1 explain it to me what can this code be used for in the "wrong" or right hands? I don't get it. Ok, it kinda passes the digital rights protection thing, but can u explain it to me in more simple terms. I agree that the majority of the people can't actually use this code in any way. I mean, I have it in a notepad file somewhere but it's pointless to me. And if I knew what it actually does, I doubt that I'll actually use it anyways, but I just wanna know. So, any explainations r welcome. Thanks.

Yeah, the best fix would be that. But u c my situation required me to stay in windows, and fdisk doesn't exist in win-xp command prompt as a command. And I had no way of running anything from dos.

Upon some more research I found out the company's web site and decided to give them a try. I downloaded the program and tried it. This time with a readme file :D It is a command prompt based program, very easy to use and it works! GRUB is gone, MBR is fixed (or so they say) and my win-xp booted up :D If any1 has any similar problems the program can be found at: http://www.sysint.no . They have some other programs there too but I don't have the time now... V

First, let me explain my problem. I installed 3 different linux distros on my pc and boot them together with windows using grub. However, spring cleaning is here and I want to remove all of them. The major problem is that this computer doesn't have a cd-rom, nor a floppy drive, and cannot boot from a usb either. I understand that the only way to make my windows load after I delete the 3 partitions that have the linux distros is to run the fixmbr (or fixboot) command from the recovery console. However I really can't get to that recovery console on this machine. So I'm searching for an alternative to fixmbr that can run from windows itself... I found several sources that said that such a thing is possible and I also found a tool called MbrFix <-- lol, that supposebly does the thing I need it to do, but I'm scared as hell to run it cuz it doesn't have any info related to the author, nor does it have an instruction manual (readme).. The damn thing doesn't have an icon ffs :D
I'm asking you good people of Hak5town to help me out and point me to a tool that you have used and works!

OK let me first say that I do not even try to explain nothing here. It's more as a hope that some1 might try and explain some things to me. I just got a Nokia N80 and started to mess around with the wireless connection and an idea popped up in my head. Haven't searched google yet, so if this has already been developed somewhere sorry. The thing I thought about is something like skype on the mobile phone. I mean, you have a mobile phone capable to connect to the internet from any open AP. If I had skype on that phone, doesn't that mean that I could possibly make phone calls to any1 that I want, and not even pay for the thing... It's like having a skype phone with you everywhere. Is a service like this already developed, and if it's not do you all think that something like this can actually evolve into something that might satisfy my expectations? Any replies are welcome since I really want to hear (read) every1's opinion. Ok I'm off 2 google 2 c what it sais about the subject. Thanks. V
EDIT: Ok now I searched google (just so I don't leave lame posts), and read skype's info on the matter and got some of the answers that I needed, but I still want to read about people' s opinion on what else can possibly be done with a mobile phone that can access an AP. BTW does any1 know of any open source projects like skype. I believe that as soon as the mass public get hold of a source code they make it better than skype, msn, yahoo or whatever put 2gether. Gr8 season. You deserve a break. Collect some more technolust material for next season, and try to make it even cooler than this one. And I know you will. Hey Darren, the streaming looks just fine, so you might use this 4 the live show if it work like this.... At least in my opinion... But I came here 4 something else.... So the string of characters is actually the ascii code of the password itself?? Is that what ur saying... BTW: DOn't worry I changed the code before posting so 'dasedba' doesn't actually mean anything to me :D roflmao... Of course this still doesn't actually answer my question...

Yeah I kinda understood that by reading the help a little bit. But here's the thing.. Doesn't pwdump just give the lm hashes? Or am I missing something here? Or does it go to the SAM file and give the password from there? Is the SAM file there although I've turned my lm hashes off in the registry? And one funny things is that this is what I get: For example:
DefaultPassword
64 00 61 00 73 00 65 00 64 00 62 00 61 00 6D 00 p.a.s.s.w.o.r.d
So the " p.a.s.s.w.o.r.d " is the actually windows password in almost clean text format...

Ok so I was messing around in cain&able and tried the "Dump LSA Secrets" tool. It got my default windows password... Does anyone know how does it do that? I already have the LM hashes turned off in the registry if this actually has anything to do with that. I should mention that I'm logged in as an admin when trying this...

Before I post my question let me just say that I hope that this thread will not become a windows flame thread... I'm interested in something else here so please try to give me ur POV on the matter...
Here's the thing: Every1 is saying that win sux and linux and/or mac is better and stuff. Like they have no viruses, they never (hardly ever) crash and stuff like that.... Will win crash as much if we just install (an original updated patched service packed win) and don't install anything on it. I mean there are 100000 guys that have pirated copies of win that have been god knows where :) and install like a million cracked and hacked programs / mods / and a million more mostly "hacked" applications and run everything in sys tray and... U see where I'm going with this? I mean let me be honest here and say the following... I've never used a mac (long enough) to actually try it but I have used linux here and there and I have never installed anything on it that didn't come with the "original" package... So let's say I have a win that does not have any "addons" of any kind.. and no viruses or hacks and it's properly patched... Do u think that it will STILL be as bad and as crashable as every1 is saying it is? Just because every virus and exploit known to mankind is made targeting win doesn't necesserily make it a bad OS does it? Please tell me why are linux and mac so better than win so I can finally get this thing in my mind cuz until now all (ok most) of the things I hear are win crashes and win has viruses. Of course it will have them. The ratio win/linux viruses is 1000000/1 :D
I hope I didn't make this as complicated as it seems to me, so if every1 understood me please reply, if not I'll post again :D

Ok just wanted to let u all know that I'm not in ANY position to host my own website. I do have a host that hosts my website. I was just wondering what the procedure is for hosting a website and registering a domain name. I didn't exactly mean that I'm going to host a website tomorrow. Just interested in something like u know.... I decide that I'm going to have a test.com website and what do I do. I find a PC that is online 24/7 and what next? I just wanted to know how hosting companies work and how domain names are assigned. Or is it just something like whoever thinks of a domain name first can register it. The thing that bothers me though is how do u tell the whole world that a certain domain name is already taken if the server that is hosting it is down. For example my test.com goes offline, doesn't that mean that for those 15 minutes of offline time I don't really own that domain name? I don't get it :D Again, think more in terms of how does the whole thing work, rather than how do I host my own website :D
