Throw it in the freezer for a bit then do the recovery methods mention above. you will have better luck with a cold drive.

For anybody who cares about details:
Desktop:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
4GB DDR2 1066 RAM
Video: 8800GTS 512
C: Drive: Western Digital 1TB Green
Raid 10 Using 4 500gb drives on an Intel controller inside my computer
an LSI Megaraid 320-2 SCSI controller controls the box with power supply on top and the SAS
the SAS box has 12 250gb drives in raid 5 and the box with the power supply has two 70gb 10,000rpm disks in raid 1.
Not nearly enough space. Not at all :P

you should see if a partition recovery disk would do the trick Hirens Boot CD has plenty of nice utilities including a partition recovery tool. Sadly I cannot remember the name of the tool itself but it worked for me before

I find it to be on preference, but just use the U3 Package Factory, its Here. I have used it to make many apps for my U3 drive, and you can actually edit a .u3p file with 7zip if your willing to edit an app installer (its what i did to crack winrar for u3)

I have modded 2 turbo tunnels into the back of my 360 (which i almost never use sadly) and it cools pretty well after doing that, seeing as it has a total of get this 6 fans. super cooled.

I ended up just repartitioning my drive and actually installing Ubuntu alongside 7 and XP because I couldnt get wubi to work after the vista bootloader installed. Your best bet is to just install off of usb and repartition your drive with gparted before you install, that way you can also upgrade to grub2 :D
