  1. indeed but from that hop forward it's gone, each time your data is routed onto another network the mac address changes , so if you were to attack a webserver that isnt on your directly connected network then the mac it see's is that of its returning route, of course your IP will be there for them to see and this is why you should proxy in this case.

  2. mac and ip are very different items to hide, ie if your attacking a website via a proxy or alike then you need not worry about your mac, if your attacking a lan then you have to use an ip for that segment unless you broadcast everything and its the lan attack that its important to spoof your mac

    internet = ip

    lan = mac

your ip address will remain the same from end to end once it hits an ipv4 public address that is (not a private class)

your mac address will only be used on the local segment once its routed then your mac address is replaced with that of the next hop

  3. or in our case , corroded crappy old copper phonelines !

I'm not sure cloud will ever be that big, i like to have my photos and music alike on my HDD sitting next to me not in some unknown location.

for sure i wont be using it.

  4. fun show, Have to ask tho , Matt what the hell is that brick on the desk, your like the anti cloud IT Person

Darren , the hacker became the hacked with a nice denial of service attack from your victims :)

    cheers guys (and girlie)

  5. great Ep

Was no time for niceties just straight into some exploiting, yeah Mubix sounded and looked a little tired, but if you notice the time on his Lappy it says 0230 so i guess he is allowed to be tired, i can't help but think that Darren prob got drunk and is akip just out of shot and left Mubix to it, or maybe he said yeah Mubix you can crash on the sofa if you just run through metasploit, and there you have it :)

i think i might need to watch this again as there is alot of content here, full of goodness tho

as always guys and girl - thanks

    take care

    O BTW

Camera Picture is much better these days :)

  6. awesome, show - felt very different this show , i liked the layout - where can i get the hak5 advert thingy as I would like to convert it to a screensaver , nice SSH segment more like this please, as always tho I have a grumble : what happened to Matt's Networking segments I thought there was going to be lot's of areas covered over this series.

embedded linux sounds like a interesting segment also

    great show guys

    thanks

  7. I used a honey pot on a linux server I had that pretended to be lots of XP Clients but didn't think a honeypot was a setup to trap a hacker or alike, hmmmm i will have a shifty

    cheers

  8. Is there any software around that you could run on a system that would basically audit what a hacker is upto,

basically a system built with one purpose in life , to audit whats happening to it, I would love to leave a device open"ish" so that a hacker can try and battle there way in but it would need to be trackable and require some good software to audit this.

    any ideas ?

lets not keep preventing them from getting in lets watch them walk around inside and see what there upto

  9. i think some tools for particular ports - you nmap the device you then want to probe the ports you founds so for example if port 5800 was found maybe try exploitvnc to try and force your way in or if it shows a vpn service running you can do an ike scan on the port to discover what methods of encryption it's looking for.

  10. hahaha o well, i'm sure we will all manage to build our touch screens without that footage, i did think it odd that you were showing the box that it was shipped in yet there was nothing with examples on.

and next week your demonstrate how to hack a labelling machine to meet your cd media needs ;o)

    take it easy

  11. I think the touch screen modding sounded cool, i say sounded as thats all we had to go by, and you had an old box to show us what it was posted in but what happened to the building shots clips or alike, and how thick is this unit inches or millimetres it would have been nice to see what we are meant to be fitting, the subject interested me but there wasn't much to show, it wasn't even demo'ed by opening calc or alike.

I have to say is the vmware war is funny, is this why we haven't seen all three of you on the show over the last couple of weeks maybe you guys are abit too passionate about what virtual software to use !

and the final shot with all of you on the sofa how is this shot much brighter and crisper than the usual shooting location, the red walls looked well nice and red, not pixelated where its been through 100 different compression programs.

I am going to investimegate this alittle more

    Cheers

  12. thanks for all the info guys this is really handy stuff, from what i have read it's a weekend'er event not just a day- are both days the same content or are they completely different content?

  13. well this site is what I used in the past for my stock car but then I live in the UK

    http://www.airhorns.co.uk/products.asp?deptid=282&lot=21

I'm sure you could find the same over your part of the world tho....

a ship horn or alike would be great but it's going to require alot of space

theres plenty of samples on this site tho , Klaxon is always great.

to many to choose from really but a big arse loud horn will get you on your way.

(i think for "get the **** out of my way" horn it has to be Nautilus 12v twin trumpet air horn , and not a bad price either!

  14. Cisco Sticky mac addresses are your friend

your need to setup the permitted qty on the interface which will relate to that of the wep users so it wont scale above 20 ish without being a nightmare but its the quickest medium fix you can get , if you watch the latest ep of hak5 they cover ssl vpn would that not resolve your issues, also is your wep 64 128 etc

it's just a thought i have , an app that uses the time and date to generate a wep key that is matched by the access point , ie a key that cycles throughout the day would increase security mmmmmmm

    anyways i will keep thinking

  15. Well Darren, Can I just say that this episode was really well done , it was the prefect length for the subject and covering both flavours of O/S which was great , I think this was really informative and will get people trying out a very powerful and scalable product from a single home user to a company of 100 + people.

I like the motorcycle intro and exit , I think the mentioning of the motorcycle angles head being missing was an interesting point, combine that with the intro where it looks alitle bit like your heads falling off it might be worth checking it's still full attached to your body !

also darren , the man who seems to have done alot of hacks and a fair share of some "crack"s i'm thinking a horn upgrade / hack is required :)

    Great show buddy

    Thanks

  16. if it's just card cloning , I dabbled with this many years ago , using an old tape to tape recorder, you pull out the heads (keep everything connected) and then mount them to a peice of wood or alike, place a back on it so the card will swipe passing by the tape's head and by placing the orginal on the (play head) and the blank on the (Record head) by swiping them across at the same time you can clone them. (you have to fiddle with the volume of the recording head and i found i had to swipe them across the the heads a good few times , these were also basic till logon cards so they weren't packed with information. but it worked and we didn't have to spend 50 pounds on the refund cards that we only had one of due to them going missing.

  17. thats some good advice haha, I am looking to book in a month or two for the hotel (undecided yet)

i was thinking of taking a crapper laptop to plug into the network there , thinking i might use deep freeze on it tho so for the most part any killing of my laptop will be recoverable by rebooting.

I guess I just don't know what to expect is this a oneday show or week long ?

should I commit more than one day to going to this show ?

anybody on here looking to go ?
