  1. Hi Guys,

It's sad that your all heading different directions breaking up the team :o(

Snubb's i hope all is well with home when you get there.

maybe if I hit the roads and find Darrn I could make his UK Trip such a nightmare that he might not want to go bike off into the sunset and stay presenting the show's ? - Nah that's crawl

I really hope that the shows continue and that the anouncement isn't marking the end of the hak5 world, that would be sad

I guess your have to do a nice kick arse section on video conferencing now and then get some guru's on talking about nice little subjects and alike.

Hope the kitty is ok at traveling !

    take care guys

  2. Nice Show, Darren once you master that badboy you must do your own episode on it please, and when and where abouts in london will you be ?

I live right on the south coast but would like to travel up and see if it's true what they say about you

that you walk backwards and have a rj45 plug on on left nipple !

    great show guys

and yeah i miss Matt and his business approach to some topics

  3. spotify premium is for iphone or alike and on p.c. without adverts , free version contains 1 advert every 10 - 15mins or so and is about 30 seconds long

i wonder if you could use poxy web proxy forwarding to create an account if your outside the uk, i use it from my work to my home pc as it shows as being a single website

as for the mac spoofing Cisco use sticky mac addressing which is very popular, basically you setup a pre defined number of permitted mac addresses per interface and if the device on the end has a different mac address than that which was first plugged in since configuring then it will shutdown the port for 10 mins or so "also definable"

if you can spoof the mac of the authorised device then you can connect your Backtrack laptop and ensure the port wont be shutdown :o)

great show , nice outtakes also haha

that lab actually working on xp with a vm was the difference between me watching with interest and actually giving that ago so i can learn an extra thing or two

    cheers guys

  4. I have created a live cd that encrypts the whole O/S using crypto, i looked into encfs aswell which might suite better for some users needs however i went with crypto it boots the initrd and then prompts for a password decryption before mounting the squashfs and if entered correctly mounts and boots the O/S in my case ubuntu 8.10

this is great if you have created a custom iso that contains lots of software you wouldn't want to fall into the wrong hands, it can also be used directly from a memory stick aswell.

if anyone is interested i can prob dig out my notes / initrd to share if you like ?

  5. another nice sow guys , thanks

If your looking for snow you can have some of ours, we have had plenty in the south east of the uk !

Have to say that i think the Mic level were up to high your were distorting i had to turn my volume down to make for better listening.

Merry Xmas one and all !

P.S. Darren - Very Cool HAT like the nightmare before xmas style - Cool

  6. very enjoyable thanks , darren your seemed really on form this week and snubs nice and happy, must be due to xmas being around the corner - i hope you guys have been good this year ?

Darren i like your t-shirt very retro

whats with the cursor on that Nokia laptop doing in the demo it was flashing all over the place, the laptop it's self looks very nice and fairly priced by the look of it.

you know its xmas around the corner when you see festive coke on screen :)

I have a question but not from 6x17 the animation of building the hak5 sign that then falls over , where can i get this as i would like to turn it into a screensaver

    ?

thanks guys and seeing as your brought up your xmas activities - Merry Xmas all

  7. Providing your sniffing pc is the default gateway to the internet then you can do what you like reverse images anything, all traffic dest for the internet will go through you from the users wlan connection.

  8. nice ep, good to see ya all in one room again, love the home brew on the DS , i have heard about this in the past but never got around to trying it , this was the push i needed so i'm digging out me ds and ordering the card adaptor.

Darren i love the way you plugged the virtual box saying your bridging all the interfaces and matt just discarded the comment as it contained the rival to vmware

you can also see that Jason isn't a comfortable that side of the camera but i think you did well, hope to see more, would like some more mac sections , maybe porting to mac or alike.

  9. I think all schools should have firefox as an option to use along with office.org as this help children make a choice of the software they can use and also allows children without bottomless pockets to produce the same quality documents from there home pc by installing office org that way they can bring into class and know that it is fully computable and supported by the school staff.

why must schools live the microsoft way !

classic example microsoft works , I mean who and why !

yeah your be able to save it as a .txt file no problem there but to be honest if the school wont play ball then your have to stick with your memory stick option.

  10. ssh, i have a webserver that also holds many of my shares (freenas) and if there is something i need while not at home , i just cp it to the web share

i have no great demand for stuff at home when im not there, for support i install vncviewer on my friends pc's

  11. Sorry but i would just like to note "catcyanow" your the one with the banner stating "APPLE HATER" & "VISTA HATER"

    I was infact creating alittle banter as in a pub . . . . . .

    Sorry to all i insulted

in other news welldone on getting ubuntu installed, the best thing i find with ubuntu is the package management

apt-get install "here put the application"

and it will grab everything needed and install it.

  12. http://www.paganini.net/index.cgi/angel/angel.html

this is a nice little app , i have modded the code slightly so the page plays a nice little bong if something bad is happening.

perl based very reliable with adjustable thresholds on what % is aloud to be lost before it 1) warns of peformance and 2) warns of real problems

    std html page for monitoring

in windows i use pathping (xp pro) which will show jitter and allsorts of nice stuff , i just had a quick goolgle for a linux version and found this http://www.grendelchen.com/weblog/?p=151 but never used a linux version.

  13. I started with Slackware 10.2

    Those were the good days.

o mate i used slackware 5 i think it was , but the lack of package management and compiling everything from source was a nightmare, however it taught me well.

as for disto , ubuntu might be your best bet , it has great package management and if your a hak5 watcher then your find the guides much easier to follow as Darren uses ubuntu for the demo's

of course this could just be starting disto wars but i think ubuntu is ya best bet.

  14. it will be interesting to see whats said about root

as soon as i login to my box i always su root if the login isn't root in the first place

then get on with the job in hand :)

  15. dont tell darren that , he has been sudo'ing for ever and its just frustrating watching him, he has decided to go with good old root access and he has my vote

  16. having a fiddle with the phpoxy addon, which is very cool, interestingly if you access an https site the real webpage is show via http so this must mean with some tweaking and abit of dns poisoning you can capture everything that user is upto thinking there just browsing there job normal website, in the meantime you can just run tcpdump from the box that is running phpoxy and you have everything required ?

    mim

  17. Nice Show Darren,

i see only 20 mins but your run through some of them bits very quickly so i think there is about 30 mins of content there so i'm happy, those are some nice tools and i'm going to have a lookie at them, 8 mins something into the show the lady behind you is looking across thinking Freak !

and whats with the roof in the background it's like a picture produced with 8bit graphics

the segment Darren's done covers dns , the fact that you don't need it if you tunnel means it's not a problem.

and even with the poxy app shown i expect that would also get around the dns as the source is always the same its the code within that what is changing and because its grabbing it on your behalf then it shouldnt be a problem,

now i'm off to try it and maybe return with my head in my hands asking for forgiveness

    Cheers Darren nice show
