Yeah, sorry about that. In all previous versions of BT it explained what to do, but I just realized BT4 Final doesn't.
For persistence, look here: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/casper-rw-cre...e-from-windows/

Also, use "sudo su" instead of creating a root password.
-
Just type it in when you get to the command line, press "Enter", and you should be good.
Did you read what Back|Track outputted after it finished booting? It would have explained what to do.

Sounds like you need to run "startx"

for truecrypt no tested as its 700$ app
You can do this for free. Darren did a bit of a segment on it.
\\Ophcrack// is best when it come to crackingOSWindows passwords ,really recommend you to use it.It is fastand reliable. -
Well if it works on other PCs and/or VMs, then you can try fiddling around with the BIOS or maybe try PLoP.
For Back|Track, use which ever boot argument suit your needs, which will most likely be the first or second choice.

I hear you can do Snort+OpenWRT on the router and set up IDS directly in the router, but that depends on your routers firmware and if its capable of running OpenWRT firmware.
THAT would be cool.

Sounds like it's your machine that's throwing the error and not GRUB4DOS/GRUB2

O.o
What internet are you using?
I think there is something wrong with it :T
XP uses LM and NTLM.
Use Ophcrack.

A DIY platter transfer wouldn't be too far out of reach for somebody that this kind of thing would be created to defend against, though.

Operating systems don't like formatting themselves

You need to debug the crash and see if any arbitrary code can be run from it.

I don't think fuzzing will be necessary since the bug is reproduceable already

Site says it's Ubuntu based, so I'm assuming that it uses casper/squashfs. Try this.

Although I've added quite a few more since then

Here, how about everybody quit bitching that they have better websites/deals/etc, and lets just go with what the AP intended on. I don't care about all your other websites with special codes, cause this thread should be about posting them HERE.
Everybody quit... almost 3 years ago...

Sounds a little similar to the "map" command in GRUB4DOS, if you ask me...

I've used SocksCap for SOCKS (SSH tunnel) proxies, but I'm guessing you're behind an HTTP proxy? The program isn't developed anymore, but you can find it floating around the web.

I personally haven't been able to stop listening to hardcore techno, hard trance, and gabber since I discovered them. Hardcore being what I listen to most often. di.fm is a great place to look around for new music. They have quite a few free streaming channels by sub-genre. Hardcore, hard trance, and gabber are what I prefer listening to when I'm doing... just about anything. It's so upbeat and exciting. It makes me feel great, even when I'm feeling pretty down, and it helps me concentrate, although sometimes I get to into the music that I listen so intently I can't concentrate long enough to do whatever it was I was doing. In that case, I just put on some trance, which is a little less intense.
How Did You Start Out With Hacking?

I think my first real "hacking experience" (maybe it'll be considered cracking) was when I installed Windows XP on a laptop I had just gotten for real cheap, made the first letter of the password uppercase without thinking about, and then couldn't log in... I don't know why I didn't just reinstall Windows, maybe I didn't have the disc or something, but I googled and googled for a way to find out my password and finally came across Ophcrack. I had to look up how to burn an iso, burnt it, booted from the CD, followed the on screen instructions... and waited as it cracked the password. Not to mention I felt dumb for not trying my password with the first letter capitalized originally...
I think that was my first experience. Of course, I downloaded all the "1337 H@x0r P@xxx" with trojans, executable binders, bruteforcers and tutorials that were in excess of 5 years old from TPB and stuff... thinking it would be cool to mess with my friend and bind a trojan (which I had NO IDEA how to use...) to the Limewire installer and laugh when he would tell me how his computer's CD tray would open/close, background would change, etc... although I never got the trojan to work because I was a COMPLETE noob... lol (I was like 13)
For some reason, I started trying to find out how I could crack my neighbor's (friend mentioned above) wifi... I found Back|Track either 2 or 3, although I think it was 3, and successfully cracked his WEP after realizing it didn't HAVE to take a month to collect all the IVs if I used injection... after I found out how to get it working of course...
I really don't recall what even brought me to Hak5, but it was like the 3rd season when I started watching regularly.
Anyways, that's a bit about how I got started.
