subparb
Hello everyone! I'm interested in getting a La Fonera router to follow along with the episodes. Gettting one online shouldn't be a problem, but I have some thoughts about it. I assume that by flashing the firmware of it, you are quite severely breaking the terms under which you bought the subsidized device (and I'm lucky enough to live in one of the select EU countries where they sell them dirt cheap now). Not that I have any major problems by that, but usually when I do such things, they don't have my name, address and credit card number. I assume they won't, but I'd like to know if anyone has any knowledge about Fon checking up on you. Is it possible to just cancel your account after buying the router (which could be a genuine operation, though probably not on the short timeframe that I intend to :-) and what are you supposed to do with it then according to their terms? SomeoneE1se
they'd have to show a loss (here in the US, I guessing it's similar in the UK) and any loss they could show couldn't be more then 3x the device and I'd guess they don't monitor that kinda stuff anyways what subsidy are you talking about? Sparda
and I'd guess they don't monitor that kinda stuff anyways I would guess other wise. Since it is their business model to make back the money they spend on setup costs, it is in there interest to monitor this. This is easily doable with the given technology.
