parrafin Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Hey guys! I got this brand new Vip 1960 stb, and it hasent been released yet, I realy wanted to open it right away, but had to get home first. Well home, I got a look inside of it. This box is bigger than the 1910 and this comes with a 160Gb Sata western digital caviar disk inside, i ejected the hdd and installed it on my pc, The bios tried to identify the hdd, but to no good use, so i guess its sata 2 or someting.. anyway. now i connected it up to my router, and i ran Nmod to check if there was a way in. Nothing was reported at all. Is there anyone who has played with stuff like this before? Quote

DingleBerries Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Have you tired to dd the disk? Maybe plug it into an external adapter in win or linux and read a few of the files? If you know what os it is running then maybe put ssh on it. I dont know enough about it to give a real good comment on it atm. Quote

DingleBerries Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Hi DB, Thanks for your repy. What do you mean by DD the disk? Soj Wikipedia dd is a common UNIX program whose primary purpose is the low-level copying and conversion of raw data. dd is an abbreviation for "data definition" in IBM JCL, and the command's syntax is meant to be reminiscent of this.[1] You are basically copying the data on the drive "exactly" how it is in the present state, I do not believe that anything can ever be copied exactly the same but that neither here or there. This way you have a original back up in case anything happens or a copt that you can play with and try different things. I would also use the term "imaging". Quote
