Aditionaly, whats with the "Ipod helper service" on windows? Do MACs have ipodhlpd running all the time or some thing stupid like that? It's caused by quicktime7. try uninstalling just quicktime if you can (you may have to manually remove it - both files and reg entries), and then google for the standalone installer for QT7. then install that.
