proskater123 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Im am having a problem port forwarding to a desktop computer. I have a dsl modem that has pf and a wireless linskey router. The modem has an option to pf all the ports to an ip address.Well i figured i would pf from the modem straight to the desktop. But I was trying to vnc server and my friend couldn't connect. do i need to pf to the router and then from there to the computer? When i hook the modem straight to the computer it worked fine. So how can i do this right??? Quote

proskater123 Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 k im kinda new to modem=>router =>everything else i have an old modem and i don't know how to set up a dmz with it all Quote
digip Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 The modem is alreayd a DMZ. The router can be set to DMZ for a specific pc conencted to it, but you don;t need to leave the whole pc open, just port forward from the router to the address your pc was assigned by the router. Quote
