Not all clients found / no handshakes found

Hello,

I have the Pineapple MK7 fairly new and have two problems with the Recon:

1. some clients simply do not appear in the search, although I wait for minutes (iPhone connects to AP).

2. handshakes are also recorded very sporadically (almost never). Connecting iPhone to AP.

Does anyone have any idea what this is due to? There are not many setting options in the Recon area.

Many greetings

Markus

There's no 100% guarantee that all the devices you see connected to a (for example) home router will show up. They have to be active to do that. The Pineapple also cycles through the WiFi channels and if a device connects to channels 6 when the Pineapple is scanning on channel 11, it won't show. Even worse on 5 GHz since there are more channels to cycle through.

ok, so from the principle it is a performance problem....

Unfortunately, I can't find anything in the manual about whether I can also set filters to a specific SSID or channel in the Recon section. So I can then search more specifically, just like on the command line with the aircrack-suite. Is there this possibility somewhere? Otherwise, the Pineapple would be quite nicely done but not really usable - I can not really imagine that.

The filters you can set in the "search field" obviously only refer to the visual representation of the display...

why can I actually only enter one post per day here in the forum???

could be, but not really, it's by design that the Pineapple loops through available channels, the optimal way is to have one radio per channel (like the Coconut) but that is not the way the Pineapple is set up

that really depends on the use case of the user, just because it might not fit your exact scenario, that doesn't make it not usable, for you most likely, but not for all

because the forum is abused from time to time and that has to be stopped in some way, the chosen method is to limit newly registered users until they have reached a certain amount of posts, if I remember it correctly it's 5 posts

dark_pyrro should know that locking to a channel is entirely possible. It's the way that the MK VII worked prior to firmware v2.0. All you do is click on an AP and choose 'Capture Handshakes' in the menu that comes up. There will be a dialog telling you that the interface will be locked to the corresponding channel.
