joey-world
Ok guys; We all have known the issues with java and their vulnerabilities, after a lot of recommendations to disable it on my browser and possibly uninstall it from my machine... it came to my concern "well, let's see how much I actually need it." Youtube and Facebook like web-pages stopped working properly. So, my question is, how am I suppose to be protected and still have the ability to work on my regular basis web pages? I mean, if I disable it, the browser in a lot of web pages stops working, of course it will happen the same if I uninstall it. I have come to the point where is Security vs. Convenience Any suggestions? Edited June 23, 2013 by joey-world
ChimeraSecurity
Hi Joey, I'm not sure Youtube & Facebook require Java to function properly. Make sure you're not confusing Javascript with Java, there is a vast difference. Personally, I don't use Java anywhere (I've been involved in investigations where APT threat actors have exploited vulnerabilities in Java, it ain't pretty). In my opinion, disabling Java would only affect people who rely on certain web applications. I have Java disabled and I never run into any issues. Regards, J
tom564
You could use a script blocking application to block scripts from running on your computer and only allow on trusted sites. notscript and noscript are both addons for Firefox and chrome i believe.
