chrisp
I have a 1Gb Kingston USB with an autorun on a secure partition that shows up as a CD I want to remove the CD drive and reformat the whole USB. The VID is 08ec and PID is 204a I can't find a controller utility (normal sources Chipbank, Alcor etc) to remove the CD drive. I know it's more cost effective to just throw it away, but this is bugging me now!!! Any one have any idea where I could find a controller utility for this chip? chrisp
It's not U3, I tried that approach :(
no42
If its not the U3 model, then you have the DTSecure one. From Kingston: I kindly inform that we are unable to remove software from DTVP. It is Firmware partition and it can not be removed. We do not recommend this product for bootable purposes. It is a security USB rather than anything else.We apologise for inconveniences. chrisp
Thanks, looks like I would have to re-flash the firmware. What a pain! Not sure how to go about that, so maybe I'm beaten on this one. Thanks for the time you took to answer Chris
