digip
Port 80, is http, for web sites. By default windows doesn't have a built in HTTP server. You can 1, install a version of apache or some other webserver if that is what you are trying to do, 2, use a program to create a listener, such as netcat, nc, etc, or 3, edit the firewall to open it, but unelss there is something listening, even disabling the firewall alltogether will not open the port. Something, program, or service, must be listening on 80 to be able to access it on that machine. Hope that points you in the right direction... Sitwon
IIS (Internet Information Services) might be installed but not running, or available to be installed.
digip
IIS (Internet Information Services) might be installed but not running, or available to be installed. Good call, and true. Add remove programs > Add change windows features or turn windows features on or off > and a new window should come up with additional services and programs. Depending on the install, might ask for the windows install disk, but if SP2, should already be there. Might be under Windows Web Publishing or something similar. I would have to open an XP VM to go look, don't remember off the top of my head. If already installed check in service.msc to see if its listed and if so, start it. visualkev
IIS (Internet Information Services) might be installed but not running, or available to be installed. I think XP pro might. home edition is unlikely to have it.
