Its pretty much a BlackBerry thing, but I read somewhere once that you can email to the pin of a blackberry and it shows up in the persons BlackBerry messenger. If you know a friends pin for their phone(which is how all BBM's talk to one another, kind of like a mac address) then you can email them at that pin.
