blackdaemon
I've got an iPaq running PocketPC something or other (what do I care? It's not like it's running Linux.). It's great for most things, but it's got a couple of drawbacks. So, I'm looking for something that serves the same purpose, runs the same OS, but is about twice the size. For one thing, it'll be a lot easier to read PDFs, which I need to do a great deal, and for looking at schematics wihtout losing resolution or readable size. Any suggestions? Anybody got something now that would do the trick? Or have you seen something coming out of the East that's the new gadget to spend my not-so-discretionary income on? Snowy©
MS anounced their new protables series Haiku http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/07/microso...nance-for-umpc/ but that will be a while yet Oh oooo shiny http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/08/unboxin...sony-vaio-ux50/ but a little big No idea on the performance but it will be better than the Haiku units (me thinks) Edit I'm still waiting for the philips rollable screen devices... and on I wait lol http://uk.media.gear.ign.com/articles/679/679677/vids_1.html Colour will come sooner or later :) One last thing the Sharp Zaurus series (SL-C1000...) were always cool a little low on spec these days but still cool (but that's linux)

blackdaemon
Not bad. The UX50 is closer to what I had in mind, but the price isn't. Figures, doesn't it? All the good stuff costs a fortune when it's brand spanking new. Of course, if I can't find what I want, I just might have to build it. Anybody have any luck building something larger than a standard handheld but running Pocket PC?

You should make a mod using an 8" touch screen lol I'm just waiting to see what Opera looks like on the DS and weather it does route in other countries (it's comming out in Japan first) through Nintendos free to access public wireless network :) VoIP and internet (well 80 access atleast) publicly for free sounds good to me :)
