  1. Here's a thought: Make the damned website first.

If you want it to be a hit, the name of the URL will be the least of your concern.

I already have most of the website finished, im writing content now, the name is the last thing i have been concerned about

  2. Inspiration will invariably smite you upside the head. Give it time to wind up for the killer smack.

    I have faith in you

Well, I guess you are right PoyBoy, I should wait for a killer smack, I was just watching the cast interview on the Hak.5 DVD (I'm seeding now btw) and I know something will come up, hopefully soon, I would like to get it started before school starts in about 6 weeks, but that may not happen, anyway.

BTW great job on the DVD Hak.5, I love it, can't wait for season 2!!!

P.S. is there any way one can change their username? Can an admin do it for you?

  3. zamod? although it sounds like a web2.0 bakery

if you got the za in that name from my username, thats a bad thing, darkzar99 isnt the name i really use anymore, astromodder is the new one I use, too bad these forums dont allow username changes, but im sure i will think of something, hopefully soon, i want to buy dreamhost hosting before this certain code i have expires

  4. shoot, i really need a good memorable name that is somewhat tech related, this time around i want my website to be a big hit.

a lot of my friends think FroMods is a good name, I came up with that but there is already a place called Afrotechmods

so im really in a bad situation right now

  5. I need some feedback on this, does UberCPU sound like a good name for a tech website, its the one i was asking about a while back, if it does would ubercpu [dot] org sound like a good name? because .com and .net are already owned to redirect to a dating site (i really dont know why)

    thanks!

  6. well i made a decision, i think it would be easiest if i just spent $25 on ebay to buy a new motherboard, i cant find anything on google, the model is ms-6330, as far as i know the cpu is still good so buying a new motherboard will probably be easiest

how do you know its the motherboard, those beeps might be the motherboard telling you the cpu is gone. If you know who made the motherboard you can go to there site and download a copy of the manual that will tell you what is actually wrong with it.

well see i bought this from a friend, two compters identical, one worked and the other didnt, when he was trying to take the heatsink off of one of them, for some reason he was using a screw driver to remove the clip holding it on and it slipped off and chipped the corner off of a very small chip, i didnt realize until just a few minutes ago that he also bent 2 pins on another chip beside that one and they are shorted, along with all of that was the capacitors, so i will put the cpu from that one into the motherboard of the one working and that will tell me

for the beep codes the technical description is "2-8-2", i couldnt find anything in the manual online for the motherboard, nor on gateway's site

  8. ok my new capacitors came today and i soldered them in, but the motherboard is still broken.

when i turn on the computer it does the same thing it did before, it gives me 12 beeps

the first to are fast, then a short pause, then 8 beeps and then another pause then 2 more beeps

    is there any hope left?

(btw the model of the computer is a gateway k7-950)

  9. Does anyone know of a good Video Editing program (besides pinnacle or adobe premiere) for windows? I would prefer that it have 64-bit support and even better if it was open source.

Oh, btw it has to be able to capture from a DV Camera also since thats where i will get the video from

I used to use pinnacle but i gave up on it because it would always freeze up my computer and when i would burn dvds with it, it would just crap out so i said forget it, and when i open adobe premiere on my computer it crashes and the entire computer shuts off and restarts

So 64-bit open source dv editor, is there such thing?

  10. Ok, I have this motherboard that has 2 blown capacitors and one that was about to blow, before the computer stopped working, I need to know if I replaced the capacitors if the motherboard would work again. The blown capacitors look similar to these: http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/P2111144.jpg however just a lot worse.

Heres the information I got off of one of them:

    1500uf 10v

    Lelon

    RXA 105oC

    L037(M)

if you can replace them would this capacitor work?: http://cgi.ebay.com/10V-1500uF-Radial-Capa...1QQcmdZViewItem

  11. I finally got it, i asked on ubuntu forums and they told me to run this:

    sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx

    sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r`

    sudo reboot now

    sudo aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf

    sudo reboot now

    and now it works!

  12. tried it with just the one monitor?

Well I just finished trying that and it still didn't work, this was a complete re-install with only 1 monitor connected, so I guess dual monitors had nothing to do with it, I will also try to install with the 32-bit version to see if its the 64-bit thats causing the problems
