  1. The DVD was free! and was a torrent!

OH! thats right. i remember now. at the time i wasnt doing any type of torrenting. i wasnt aware of its awesomeness >_> so all i have are the downloadable eps in avi

  2. my personal choice would be the ps3. ive had experience with both systems and given the games, hardware, and quality i would definately go with ps3

    PS3:-----

pros: the highest quality graphics of the 3 platforms. the controls are basically identical to the ps2 duel shock so you can still pick up games just as easily as before. playstation network is a wonderful service offering everything from old time playstation favorites (final fantasy 8 just came out for download XD) to playstation network only titles

no fee for online access or play. blu ray quality (ive seen it myself many times) downloadable movies for both rent or own.

games such as little big planet. best graphics and performance of all 3 so cross platform games tend to be the best looking and smoothest running on the ps3. built in blu ray player. support for multiple users. the ability to download psn games to multiple systems free of charge (example: bought a few games on my account on my girlfriends ps3. went to visit my military parents and redownloaded those games to their ps3 for free)

and the ability to download and redownload your psn games over and over again.

bluetooth and wireless network adapter built in

cons: expensive, game selection (no halo, no left for dead, etc, etc, ect). ALMOST NO LOCAL MULTIPLAYER SUPPORT. meaning if your a family man or you have friends that visit you physically there are very very very few split screen multiplayer games. 90% of the multiplayer on the system is reserved for online only.

xbox is nice. good party system. nice game franchises. great network play. no built in wireless built in sadly.

    edit:

and for future reference E3 stands for electronic entertainment expo. its a convention for... well electronic entertainment. e3 is where most game companies reveal their latest technology and their big name titles

  3. LOL, some of us have been here since the beginning.

XD i started watching the show around 2x08. that is to say that when i started watching the show 2x07 was the latest episode and 2x08 was the next one to be released.

i think the thing i miss the most is the bbs. loved the door games

  4. Why not just let them watch at the Hak5.org site so that the guys can get viewer statistics and pay the bills?

    Season 1

    http://www.hak5.org/category/episodes/page/9

It's really important that they have numbers they can show to advertisers so they can collect money to pay for hospital stays.

And if you really were an old time hak5 watcher you'd know:

There's no point in Hak5 (Check the notes)

if you watched the original season you would hear them say "hak point five" though they stopped eventually

A lot of the season 1 episodes do not exist in those links any more because they used to be hosted on Stage9(divx.com) which no longer exists. The Season 1 DVD is also a lot higher quality and has behind the scenes clips and interview material, so if you can find the torrent, its a great download to have. Im not even sure where my copy is at this point...

sadly at the time i had no money to get a dvd so i just burned the first 2 seasons to data disc. which is where these files came from. honestly if i could find a place that would allow the 2+gig filesize i would upload them for direct download instead

  5. i was watching some old episodes to get a better look at evil server so i could draw up a high res 3d model in blender. completely lost my desire to mess with blender after i started enjoying the nostalgia.

thought there might be quite a few people who watch the show who havent seen where the show started so heres a torrent for the entire first season in avi

[LINK REMOVED. please see moonlit's dvd link]

    edit:

and PLEASE seed if you get it downloaded. i cant seed all the time and my net kinda sux. the more people that seed this thing the better.

if you want the season just download the torrent and keep it running in the background. i seed all my torrents in my sleep and when im afk. and a lot of the time when im at the computer. honestly the onjly time im not seeding is when im playing an online game. tomorrow i goto verizon to get my new droid so once i goto bed tonight ill be seeding for quite a while.

  6. this is about the third time ive made this topic since i started watching the show (back at 2x08)

basically just post the free software you find useful. theres tons of open source and free programs out there for all platforms. just post something useful. weather its a web service, iphone app, droid app, or just a nice piece of software. share it with the community

    Handbrake:

this is a program i found while looking for a way to turn movies into a format for my ipod nano. its a free video conversion program that works beautifully. and something a lot of people here will love is that it has both a command line and a gui. one of my favorite things about it is the encoding que. i can load up a list of videos i want converted and then lock my laptop while i go off and do w/e and when i return all the videos are converted and ready to import into my itunes

    Google Voice:

if youve been watching the show then you already know about it. if you dont know about it then go look at it right now. its a beautiful service. and having sms is great for me (for those that remember i used to send 8k txt messages a month XD )since i can reply with the browser and archive all txt and voicemail messages

    Ipod-Notes:

i posted about this the other day hoping that someone knew of a replacement. after passing 35 views and no responses in 2 days ive given up on finding something better. this service will take a web page or txt file and format it to fit into an ipod nano's note system. basically it splits it into multiple files under 4k each. the problem (the only problem really) is that it doesnt maintain line breaks or any form of formatting in txt files. but its still a handy service

thats all ive got for right now

  7. i got a 16 gig ipod nano 5th gen for christmas.

ill cut to it. i want to load this thing up with "notes" as it puts it. i know how to get files on there. the main problem is they are limited to 4k in file size. this poses a problem because the files i want to put on my ipod vary greatly in size. i like to read short stories from various places (deviant art and others) and id like to take these with me

    whats working with me

i know how to load files onto the ipod.

it supports file system so i can seperate stories with folders so splitting the files is no problem

    whats irritating me:

i havent got the patience to sift through a large txt file and clip it off at 4k and make another.

i tried http://www.ipod-notes.com/ and while very helpful and fast.. it doesnt hold ANY formatting at all. .txt files dont have much formatting themselves but they hold onto new lines. meaning paragraphs (which are important for some stories). but http://www.ipod-notes.com/ cuts out the line breaks and squishes all the text together. making things harder to read.

can anyone suggest a site, program, string of code, etc, etc, etc that can split a large text file into a number of 4k character files and still maintain the line breaks?

  8. lets see....

first act guitar starter pack (100x easier to play than i ever thought otherwise i would have gotten myself a guitar years ago)

assassin's creed 2 master assassin's edition for ps3 (fuck yes)

4gig memory stick for my psp. got a lot of psn games i had no space for

ipod nano 5th gen 16 gig with engraving. love this thing so much XD

    new shoes

im heading home for the rest of the season tomorrow where ill more than likely be given more stuff >_>. im fairly certain ill have a droid on sunday.

week after i get back im heading out to stay a week with my millitary mother and step father. hes a tech geek and shes a shop-a-holic so between the 2 of them ill probably be given something else.

all in all i got a shitload of stuff X.X i could have gone with nothing and been damn happy since i got my google voice number.

OH! and i ordered myself a hak5 hat for a self given christmas present XD. cant wait for it to arrive

  9. yes i know these questions are stupid. i ask noone link me any "just fucking google it" links or anything of the sort

ive googled. thats how i found the motorola droid's screen resolution. i just have a few questions about wallpapers

i know you can swap thewallpaper which is good. i want to know

1: does it force a format change like windows does when it sets one (converts to bmp)

2: does it use 480x854 like the screen's resolution or does it set it differently to make up for the bars on the screen?

just curious because i started a wallpaper out of boredom

    hak5droid.png

and i want to know if i need to make any changes to fit it to the droid

  10. i remember a while back there was a topic. cant remember the title but basically you posted asking for an invite into some service that needs invites and posted what invites you would trade for it.

i was finally gonna make use of the topic and beg for a google voice invite XD and trade a demonoid invite if they ever get back online

and if im just a moron and couldnt find it with the search function then i apologize XD i tried searching but to no avail. i may very well just be having a moron day

  11. Yes I am afraid so. At least until they crack the newer ipod nano's.

I believe the only ipod nano's cracked so far are the 2G Nano and the (4G Nano - Partially Cracked).

damn. oh well lol. im sure i can work around and convert my library.

  12. just popping in. been a while. wanted to ask a quick question

i figured out that im getting a new black ipod nano http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/

i looked into rockbox because... well it beats the hell out of the standard firmware with compatibility alone. i wanted to dual boot the firmwares. but sadly there isnt a build of rockbox for the new ipod.

so my question is am i stuck using apple's standard firmware or does anyone know of a good firmware and can dual boot with?

  13. ive been here for a while and this is like the 7th time the security for the forum was compromised lol. kinda funny :P i sorta just leave this password each time cause this acount hasnt been taken and i dont use the pass anywhere else (besides my yahoo and twitter account, ohh and i forgot my blog)

    edit:

touche problem is i abandoned all of those accounts long before they were accessed. so i reitterate. i dont use the pas anywhere else

  14. Do you mean flash won't play sound? Or Java won't play sound? Or javascript won't play sound? Or steaming audio with quicktime or vlc plugin won't play sound?

all of the above. nothing that is supposed to come from an internet browser will play. you know the sound mixer in your tray? where it displays all the programs that use the speakers? none of the web browsers will show up in that list either

  15. im on my girlfriends laptop. shes got vista too. shes having internet issues. she cant get her internet to play sounds. as in her web browser, regardless which one she uses, doesnt show up in the audio mixer. no videos or anything will play sound.

does anyone know how to fix it? ive searched for answers. only one ive found is somethign with missing.reg thing but it had no effect which i thoguht it wouldnt lol.

    edit:

like i said the internet wont play sounds. but all other programs work fine.

  16. eh, it happens. well, welcome back. dont be a stranger! *btw, heads up, I have not seen this in the recent week, but there have been a growing number of script kiddies around.. just sayin.

doesnt surprise me a bit lol. "i can haz b47ch file?"
