Help a n00b, please :oops: . My motherboard has intel integrated graphics, but for the last year or so, I've been using a GeForce 6600GT on the open PCI-Express port, and things have worked perfectly. Yesterday I was playing FEAR, and I left it on the pause screen and left the room for 5 minutes or so to get a drink, when I came back, the computer had shut down on it's own. I pressed the power button repeatedly to no avail, unplugged it and plugged it into a new socket in the wall to try again, and it still wouldn't start. At first I thought that FEAR had just fried my PSU, but upon experimenting I found that the computer would start up just fine if I took the video card out and ran it off integrated graphics, so my PSU is not completely fried I guess. But, as soon as I plug that nVidia card back in, the CPU fans start to spin and the logo on the front of the case glows for about a half a second, and then just stops. Does anyone have any experience in a problem like this? Any advice at all would be great. :?

I have Nero 7, and it tries to look too flashy. "Welcome to Nero! First choose your category. Then, pick a task..."= ANNOYING. Plus, giving people motion sickness from the words moving around the page doesn't make it more user friendly. I use Alcohol 120% more often, because it's nice to use the same program for burning that I use to mount stuff on my hard drive. I also like how the UI is styled simply, and tries to look like the Windows control panel. Consistency is good.

Wasn't that only true for Intel boxes because they, being 32-bit, can only address at most 4 gigs directly, and need to use tricks (which will obviously take longer) to go beyond that. A 64-bit machine should be able to cope without any ill effects. Question is, how many people run 64-bit games on a 64-bit OS to not get bitten by this...? :shock: :? So are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?

I don't know if you can get it anywhere but in Canada, but this is pretty much the only beer I drink: http://www.keiths.ca/ They have a pale ale and an amber (red) ale that are both good. Sleeman's is also good, but again, you might only be able to get that in Canada too. I don't drink crappy beer like Budweiser and that, I just don't like the taste.

8GB Gaming Box? Anything over 2-4GB slows games down. What are your other specs on your gaming box?

Thats cool, responsible drinking at home is pretty damn good in my book, you learn that you can drink beer without causing a scene. You must know people who can't manage that though. Nice. And yeah, I definitely do know those kind of people. I think one of the major problems with teenagers and over drinking is their parents being so opposed to it. If parents let their under 18 year old drink a beer or a glass of wine at dinner and not make a scene of it, the kid wouldn't treat drinking as "rebellious", drink 10 times that much and get wasted with their friends when they're underage.

No, man. Some of my friends drink heavy, but I'm just saying that I might have a bottle or two of beer when I'm playing Xbox Live or something.

I heard a while back that you can "unlock" the media center style in either Home or Professional... does anyone know how? I'm sure that you can WindowBlinds it, but if theres any way I can have it look like that without downloading that shit, I'll be really happy.

I have an ISO for the latest beta, but when I burn it to a DVD, it is still an image file. Aren't I supposed to be able to view all the files once it's burned?

Belgium, eh? Yeah, I think here in Canada you can legally have sex when you're 15, but the other person has to be your age or 1-2 years older than you. We can't drink beer until 18, but that's not to say I don't already anyways I'm 16 by the way.

Agreed. And from what he's saying, it sounds like he has a combined modem/router, which is definitely not good. Ask your ISP if you can get a stand alone modem from them, and go get a better router from somewhere else (DLink or Linksys).
