  1. Thanks for the tips. I was wondering if it would not be to smart to just yank the CMOS chip out that's why I was asking. Thanks for the help though. I am going to try to see if I can get any backdoor passwords if not then i will just yank out the onboard battery.
  2. hey guys I need some help, if you don't mind? I work as a computer tech. and this very dumb yet smart enough customer to put a password for powerup. the password is needed before POST and before the any real BIOS functions startup it asks for a Power-on Password. I was planning on removing the CMOS chip for a second or removing the little onboard battery that the motherbard has. O by the way it is a Compaq laptop. I haven't done this before on a laptop and was wondering if there are any pointers that you guys would have for me. I think my first try will be to pull the on-board battery out then if that doesn't work, which it should, then I will carefully yank out the CMOS chip which I kinda don't want to do. Thanks for any feedback.
  3. I have 3 CDs of music saved to my WinMP11 Beta library. I have had them there for over 2 months. I am happy that they are still there. I remember seeing something on the WinVista Wiki site or on the WinMP11 Wiki Site saying that after 3 days it disables those songs if you don’t register them somewhere or something along those lines. If that is the case when Vista comes out NO THANKYOU I will uninstall the retail version and then install the beta in its place. That’s if they don't disable the Beta after the release of the retail version. I really like the black color Scheme. It beats the hell out the old solid blue one. But then again the WinMP10 was made for XP and WinMP11 is made for Vista so I guess that making a media player for XP that didn’t match the default color scheme wouldn’t really seem right.
  4. I'm not sure if you are referring to the disabling of the DRM features but even if you don't pirate media online DRM has a way, as I'm sure you know, of coming back and popping its ugly head up when you least want it.
  5. Does anyone here have the Windows MP11 Beta? I got it a while ago and I'm gald I did. The retail version, which is for Vista, is supposed to be married with DRM but for the most part most of the DRM enforcement tools of it have been disabled in the beta. If anyone has the WinMP11 beta. Please post if you have noticed the same thing. I'm sure they've done that on purpose and once Visa is born then they will remotly disable WinMP11 beta. :( Also my phone wont sync with WinMP11 beta but then again it also my phone didn't sync with WinMP10 either so I don't know.
  6. I tried the admin/admin and supprisingly right after I posted this. About like 5 pages into a google search I foung that info out. Thanks for the really quick response though.
  7. Hey. I just baught the comcast version of the WCG200-CC Linksys router/Gateway. Well least to say comcast makes sure that they get their money and if not they make sure it's hard as hell to take advantage of their hardware. Ok well down to business. Comcast installed in the firmware a little program to where that the router/Gateway always has WEP enabled. I've been trying to crack the WEP password but no such luck as of now since well no users meens no packet exchange. I have also tried to connect directly to the router/gateway via the internal IP address http://192/168.1.1/ config option but still no luck. Also tried the exteranal help IP address, http://209.143.212.20:8080. I am also connected to another wireless router. I disconnect from that before trying to connect to the other one which was first labeled Comcast but after hitting the reset botton it changed it to CustomerID. Also I'm running WinXP Pro. I got a sweet deal on it. I only paid $30 for the gateway an ethenet cable, USB cable w/ USB Drivers, and wall adapter. It was used but still I think I got a good deal on it.
  8. Very true, As Moonlit said it is sad. It would be an interesting fact if we knew the age of the user at the time they wrote it.
  9. I'm pretty sure I am not all that great of a hacker in any sense of the word but damn. this guy dug himself into a hole that could rival a mine shaft. Every time I read this I realize more and more about the misconceptions that people have about what hacking is supposed to be and how it is accomplished, again in any sense of the word.
  10. Here is the transcript of an IRC conversation that I was not a part of but I think people will get a good laugh from it. Here is the link to the forum that posts it. http://www.crisscross.com/jp/forum/Worlds_...m_422436/tm.htm enjoy. heh.
  11. here is a sweet make it yourself antena that from the looks of it is pretty inexpensive. http://www.instructables.com/id/EQARE4I72GEPUCHTHU/?ALLSTEPS I myself haven't done it yet but I have a couple more fun things to do before I build this. Good luck and have fun.
