Kali Linux usb persistent drive for Mac and Windows

Well I don't know where to really start. Should I try to make two boots for Kali one for Windows and then one for Mac and then have both boot into the same persistent drive? -
So, I have a Mac(not proud) and a Window computer. Because I use both and I want to start pentesting with Kali Linux, I need a way to be able to boot a persistent Kali Linux usb on both Mac and Windows. Is it possible. Please give suggestions
