  1. A few of us over on the netstumbler forums did this with linksys wrt-54g's. One of the moderators put a few in taxi cabs and let them wardrive for him. I think his brother ran the company or something. Someone else, I think it was Mother, modded his with a 3g radio, this was before every phone had internet access, or at least mostly cheap internet access. I might have to pull my serial gps out of my 54g and add it to my pineapple....

Was the option of using Bluetooth gps with a USB Bluetooth dongle discussed or being possible on net stumbler forums?

  2. The usb standard is fine what is troublesome is the hub issue. I have used several powered and non powered hubs but I havent been able to get a working usb hub working. Without a working hub I can't keep storage and other devices working.

The only other thing that this expansion board adds is a serial adapter (not really needed for most of us as we already have it. but nice to have)

When you get a chance can you try something for me? First of all i was having a whole bunch of problems with my usb hub but i was able to make the problem you are having go away for good. I re-flashed the mk4 then put the storage direct with the mk4, ran it with it and made sure it is being detected and i can access it with no problems, shutdown the mk4, plugged in the hub and storage to the hub but powered it up with mk4 not before it, checked everything is fine, powered down all, then plugged the other usb device in my case the usb 3g modem, powered all up at the same time and all worked fine.

Let me know if that takes care of it or i got very lucky ?!?!

  3. there is code out there for windows at least so you can access a hard drive "move files to/move files from/run"

It is dependent on the name you give the drive "volume name"

Can you steer me in the direction of that code?

Is it possible to make it HID and USB mass storage at the same time to access the payloads or execute payloads on the mass storage portion?

  4. I had set auto start on for sslstrip and it locked me out too.

To change the uHTTPd port nano the file '/etc/config/uhttpd'

    change the 7th line "list listen_http 0.0.0.0:80" to whichever port you'd like to use like this;

    "list listen_http 0.0.0.0:1337"

then run '/etc/init.d/uhttpd restart' to restart the server

    Good luck,

    Dazzle

Thats what the doctor ordered :) +1 to you Dazzle

  5. might be able to make a battle case with something like this...

I used one of these for a foxhunt (ham radio hide & seek)

Big problem (as Molotof said would be putting the antenna inside. Best case being you dont get a good signal outside of the box (Faraday cage), Worst being that you destroy the radio & amplifier in the pineapple.

Now that dosent mean you cant drill a hole in the box and stick the antenna on the outside. :)

A couple of bulkhead fittings for USB, Power, LAN & WAN

Then you would have plenty of room for a honkin sealed lead acid battery and charging circuit.

Speaking of fox hunt ! how about making a Loop antenna or a quad for 360 degree directional effect because the yagi is way too big for portable discrete operation ;)

  6. Is there a module out there that will dump all traffic for every one connected to the pineapple to a file so i can open it in say wire shark or something like that latter?

Yes for sure it is call tcpdump it will capture all traffic and put it in a pcap file for your wireshark pleasure, but SSL traffic is going to be useless, so run sslstrip with it to have an all seeing eye :)

  7. no what happens is it locks up after powering the pineapple, right from the start, regardless if I power the hub,

what makes it work is plugging in the usb cable into the pineapple after all the lights have turned on about 1 minute

tried with just the thumb drive and just the NHA, same results.

Well looks like you have a bad bad bad usb hub, as i have my pineapple running fine with power up and on going for 8 hours without a reboot, also rebooting the states of the devices connected are normal and no lock ups, also there seems to be a sweet spot so try one at a time in a different port on the hub that makes it last longer without a lockup.

  8. what you explained is what happens to me but it does not matter if rebooting or powering all at the same time, even plugging the hub into the pineapple say 30 seconds after powering causes this, works when all the lights come on then you plug in the hub.

now I wonder if there is a command that could be issued via the pineapple that could solve this?

What do you have connected to produce this lockup after 30 seconds ?

  9. I have tried both with supplying extra power and just what the pineapple produces.

I noticed something when i started testing this hub and in general any hub will lock the state of the usb devices connected to it, so what i mean is when you provide external power to the usb separate from the pineapple, the device initialize only once so when you reboot the pineapple the device does not reinitialize again and then you get a problem, which is the pineapple does not see or able to communicate with the usb device.

So in short power off all and power on all at the same time, try it and let me know please :)

  10. hey Molotof could you let me know what usb hub your using with the mark4 and if it works all the time when plugged in from the start of powering the pineapple?

I am having problems and tested on two mark4s with 3 hubs:(

It's a Belkin 4port powered with USB from the I.sound battery , as I cut the power adapter for it and connected to a USB cable , the model number is : f5u404-wht-tg and got it from target.

    Good luck :)

  11. I am at work, but I brought the required equipment and I will be trying your ideas at lunch. I also brought a blank 8gb SanDisk to try as well, I had an idea that could be the issue.

Question for jdogherman, and I apologize if this is a total n00b statement:

How do I mount the USB folder to the drive on the pineapple? I have been using Putty to connect to it and not all the linux commands I know work.

If you have nothing else connected to the usb port other than the flash drive then issue the command : mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1

    or

    mkdir /usb

    mount /dev/sda1 /usb

and check the space by : df -h

if you having problems formatting then under backtrack or ubuntu get gparted by :

    apt-get update

    apt-get install gparted

    gparted

and then choose the usb drive and partition it with a big chunk as EXT4 and the rest as SWAP and apply changes and then connected it to the MK4 and mount again and check spacce.

  12. Isolot, I was able to achieve the bandwidth limiting with a backpack Fon 2100 abc as the Internet source to the mk4 LAN port to LAN port and configured the fon to access my iPhone via mywi.

Is the ssh tunnel not enough as opposed to a VPN end point?

Raspberry pi has already a raspberrypwn which might make me add it to the mix and order one lol

  13. I like the poll, it gives us a nice idea what people want.

To be honest, a lot of this is already in the works and should be on the horizon soon.

    Best,

    Seb

You guys did a really good job of making all this happen and i know we will get a big surprise soon, the pineapple has become more reliable and alot more fun than before :)

One tool that i found to be promising is subterfuge on google code it looks nice but still buggy as it is still in beta, wonder if we can port it to pineapple but i know that would be way too much on the little processor.

  14. Just a little idea brainstorm of things i would like to see in the future, i am working on some of them but i need alot of help and direction, most of these can be done manually but i want to get to a point and click or head towards automation of tasks with better reporting.
