  1. I am looking for a good, free antivirus that I can throw on my U3 drive. It doesn't have to be a U3 app, but it would be nice if it was.
  2. I am looking for a bluetooth headset that isnt going to sound like crap and fall apart. I am looking to spend preferably under $30, but I'll go as high as $40 with shipping. I would prefer newegg or like walmart to buy from. I've browsed like all of them on Newegg, but even one bad review worries me because I bought a cheap about $20 headset from Newegg that got decent ratings and it was a big mistake. anyone have any suggestions?
  3. Well its free if you send a letter requesting an account. I'm not worried about being held accountable, im not really doing anything wrong.
  4. I made a $1 donation and got an account with http://silenceisdefeat.org/ . There is no bandwidth cap and have 50mb storage. I don't really plan on using this for bittorrent for the most part unless I really need something. I mostly had 10% left on one torrent and it worked great to finish it through that. I really plan on using the tunnel for anonymity with portablefirefox
  5. i get what you are saying. what i mean is, does anyone know what that protocol is when you kinda have to do an irc thing and request a file. I remember there was a website that you could search then it would give you a server, channel, and bot name
  6. I remember being able to use something that you had to go request files from bots. i dont remember what it was called though
  7. Really, I am looking for like a way to get linux dvd distros. http isnt a great idea around here for things that large and bitorrent is my preferred way but I cant use that. There is one thing other than that too which i need because I lost the disk, still have the serial number which would also be nice to get but its not a must have.
  8. bitorrent is blocked here, so what should I use? for real, I am not download anything illegal. Honestly. I'm really not lying.
  9. teh Tech-Centric episode your showed was interesting but I am looking to spend no money (im broke, like broke broke, not that broke where you have the side stash of money just in case), so I watched I found how I can get incoming calls to my computer for free with and have people be able to call me from a normal phone. So what I have now is a softphone and a phone number. I was wondering if there is a way to take the calls going from the softphone and forward them through my home phone line to my cell phone. I get free calls to and from my home phone so that would be a crazy but very usable setup.
  10. So, last month I was greeted by $140 in overage fees on my cell phone bill. My cell phone is all I have to use since I am in a dorm with only very local calling. I was interested in how to get started with a VOIP so that I can call regular phones. I remember Skype way back used to allow free calls to phones, but that has long passed. I was wondering if there is another way, no matter how complicated the setup (lol), I really need get this going. I use a bluetooth headset on my phone and it works fine with my computer so it wouldnt be much difference to me using my computer to make calls. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  11. lol, at least these guys said dont dare bring norton onto the campus
  12. someone actually asked that, they pretty much said too bad. they are supposed to be adding wireless to the dorm by end of fall anyway, so i guess its not all that bad.
  13. what i was told during orientation about wireless routers is that they periodically scan the network, and if the find a router, then then ban the router and all the clients on it by the mac address. that is the only technical thing they discussed
  14. I am familiar with tor, so i might try that out there. I am not too worried about tracing back to the room too much, because the campus has wireless in all the buildings, just not the dorms, its wired there, so if staying anonymous on wireless would be much easier i could easily just go to another building, or i will probably be able to pick up the signal with a good wireless card. im just trying to be careful here, so im double checking my facts, but on wireless the onlyway to trace a computer would be the MAC address correct? even if they get the MAC, there is no way to identify the computer, so MAC spoofing should take care of it as far as wireless goes. Is there anyway that they could find out the real MAC though, and get past the spoofed?
  15. yup. information is displayed, and ferret acts fine like everything is good, i just dont see anything matching up
  16. Following this story http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=651 I had some questions about the tools it mentions. I downloaded Ferret from here http://www.erratasec.com/ferret.html . It says that Hamster is not available yet so I thought that maybe I could just get the information from ferret and set the cookies manually. I am not sure what information displayed by ferret to use though, because none of the information in the cookies set by gmail match anything that is displayed in ferret. I am only trying this on my account to see how it works, so no worries, im not attacking anyone, just curious.
  17. would arp poisoning easily be detected?
  18. would this work locally to hide from admins? I think it is just for people outside the network isnt it? Just goes through an external proxy before accessing outside servers?
  19. I was wondering what is the best method for staying anonymous on a school network. From what all I have been told before, they block computers by mac address, so a simple mac addr spoofing tool would take care of that would it not? also what other tools and software can be used to hide information about the computer? The campass has both wireless and wired access. the wired access is in the dorms, so is it possible to trace things back to a certain room? I dont plan on doing anything sketchy, at least not on the schools network honestly, but basically I've been told they watch every tiny thing you do so it just would be nice to be reassured of some privacy. It doesnt matter if the tools etc are for windows or linux because i use both. thanks
  20. What is the team id you have created for U3_zombies?
  21. I have created a quick add on for the USB switchblade, that install fold@home on the target computer, then installs it like the hacksaw, which has it run at startup and hides in a folder depending on the privileges. The download link is http://d.turboupload.com/d/1069130/USB-fh.zip.html , I'm sure there is problems somewhere in there, or better ways to do it. Just let me know and I'll fix it. b0xybr0wn ...I know I posted this in the running thread yesterday, but I decided to post a new topic to get some help making it better. Right now I am looking for a command line tool that will allow for limiting the cpu usage of folding@home.
  22. You could do it with the Beta of Utorrent. It has a web ui that allows you to start torrents etc. remotely. It would be easy to auto copy and then email the ip routinely. The only issue I see is port forwarding on some comps.
  23. I cant seem to find any freeware command line tools, any suggestions?
