  1. We took over a school district for a year like that.  Looked like someone read a book on group policy, then enabled it all...  Down to the point of setting individual computers with individual printers.  It was a freaking nightmare to clean it all out.  We dropped them as a client because they wouldn't purchase new windows licenses.  Whoever ran the place before us made due with 4 licenses across the whole system.

tried bridged an NAT mode, it doest change a thing for me.

You need a usb adapter.  Trying to use the built in ethernet of the host will do all kinds of stupid things, take it out of the loop.  Some work, others don't, it's kind of a crap shoot.

  3. To answer the "but why" question that usually comes up right after "we can't help you".  What you are talking about is illegal.  Please save everybody's time and not try to justify it.  You want to backdoor a computer that doesn't belong to you.

  4. Renderman had this cool idea back in the oughts to use the linksys wrt54g exploits to find other exploitable wrt's on the internet and patch them, then use them in the same botnet to continue the purge of bad firmware.  I think the idea was after a few months the c&c server would send out a command to have them reset their ssl keys to break them out of the botnet.  As far as I know no one ever tried it.

We have it a little different where I come from. If it is public the law says anyone can use it without permission, because the law already tells people it is free to use.

That's not how it works.  You can bet your ass that if you tell a police officer that you're trying to hack one of the "free public" computers at the library, they'll tell you to stop, or arrest you.

Get a stand-up case, an OTG cable and a USB Bluetooth adapter that goes to a small keyboard and mouse and you're set! :P

Yea, I just wish it ran real linux and not androidified linux.  I had one of the Nokia phones that ran debian, that was awesome.

    Interesting, What was the brand:model?

    Itronix 6250+ .

Kinda funny, my phone has 10 times the storage space, 24 times the memory, the processor is 100 times faster, with 7 more cores, 4 times the screen resolution, probably 6 more hours of battery run time, but at least they were both water proof!

  8. Objects for scale, but it's 23 inches long.

I made this one from LMR-400 microwave coax cable.  It's only something like 9dbi, so anything is better really, I just wanted to make another antenna.  I have two of these, one with rp-tnc and another with standard N connector.  Used to use them back in the beginning of the wifi wardriving days.

I kinda miss this laptop.  The keyboard glowed in the dark, which is nice when you live in a place that's dark half the year.  It also had a night vision goggle safe screen, super dim, which was handy when it sits in the passenger seat at night.  Most laptops today are still too damn bright on their lowest setting.

When they power down all systems and then power them back up?

Whaaaaaa!!!???  That's crazy talk!  Actually that's called "Which dumb ass didn't do a copy run start on the core switch" day.  That day was fun, cause they didn't do it THREE years ago...
