KlippKlapp Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Hello Guys! Is there a way to force another router to change the channel? I have the Wifi password but not the admin password. Quote
dark_pyrro Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Why would you want to force the change of channel? Quote
santah Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 because too many routers are transmitting via the same channel and the connection is therefore very poor. Quote
dark_pyrro Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 I'll let the thread creator answer before asking any further questions... Quote
KlippKlapp Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 Because too many routers in my area broadcast on the same channel and the connection is therefore very poor. I could have written a lot more but I got such a strange message. "You have reached the maximum number of posts you can make per day." Quote
dark_pyrro Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 That argument won't give you the right to make changes to equipment that you clearly don't have permissions to access. Quote
KlippKlapp Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 Both routers are in my living room. Router 1 (main router) FRITZ!Box 6690 Router 2 (test router) Easybox 904x Both routers belong to me. Quote
dark_pyrro Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 Still you haven't got the admin password to change things. But... if you can't control the main router, why not add a second one ("behind" the main router) that you actually can control and do the settings you desire to do? Quote
KlippKlapp Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 I think I expressed myself incorrectly. I have 2 routers. My main router (FRITZ!Box 6690) with admin password and a router (Easybox 904x) as a test setup (without internet). I just wanted to know if I can trigger a channel change from the Easybox with “auto channel on”. Again I have the Easybox 904x to experiment and learn. Theoretically I have admin rights on the router but I don't want to use them. Quote
dark_pyrro Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 It depends, if it's 5 GHz, it could most likely be possible, at least temporarily, but it also would potentially put you in a position that is close to (or *is*) creating a DoS scenario which probably is illegal in a lot of countries. Quote
KlippKlapp Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 What would such a DoS look like for a 5 GHz network? I'm not worried whether it's illegal or not because it's my hardware. Quote
dark_pyrro Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 Are you living in the middle of a desert with no one near as far as the eye can see? If not, then it wouldn't most likely affect just your equipment. Quote
KlippKlapp Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 If someone wants to DDOS a server, does it also bring down the entire internet in the world? Quote
dark_pyrro Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 No, but this isn't about servers, is it? Quote
