connect pineapple straight to smartphone

Hey all,

 

Is it possible to connect wifi pineapple to a smartphone via usb-c to usb-c cable?

It connects, powers up, my android phone discovers it as a network cable, but navigating to pineapple admin panel returns a timeout.

I specifically do not want to connect via pineapple's hotspot.
