Need some noob assistance.   Trying to get subject adapter to work in Kali.   Can anyone share the process of getting the right drivers installed?  Can seem to get it just right.

Should be able to help, even though you're not using the adapter with a Pineapple. Like dark_pyrro said, it should be plug-and-play. I'm just going to assume that it's detected but not working "just right." More details would be appreciated as to what is going wrong. If you do want to check that the correct kernel module is installed, it should be something like mt76x2u.

/home/kali/Pictures/lsusb_after.pngThank you for all for your time and assist.  Correct, using the adapter outside my pineapple as I'm having issues with my other adapter's chipset and Fluxion.  Thought this would be plug and play in my VMWare Kali 2032.2 and zSecurity Kali 2022 v1.10.12.  Having no luck with either.  I've attached the lsusb before and after screenshots (Kali 2032.2); no difference.

This is the error VMWare gives me as soon as I connect the MK7AC, "The device 'MediaTek 802.11ac WLAN' was unable to connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be made to connect this device to the best available host controller. This might result in undefined behavior for this device."

This is probably an easy fix, just not experienced enough to figure it out...yet.

OK, knowing that you are running it inside a VM is something that would be good to know right from the start.

You probably need to pass it from the host/hypervisor to the VM in the correct way. I'm not a VMware user since I use VirtualBox most of the time, but how to do that is most likely not a difficult thing to obtain via a Google search. This is most likely not an adapter issue, but instead something related to properly passing the adapter to the VM the way it's supposed to be done.

(No pictures posted btw)
