Specialty Server Project

Hello all,

I am not sure if I looked hard enough for a similar topic, but here goes nothin.

I have built a few sweat systems for my gamer buddies but now I have a ton of calls

for specialty servers (all the rage these days) and could use some help from the community.

In fact I have a project I am working on now that I could use some help with,

but first, lets get the garbage out of the way.

I would really like all you IT MechMobsters to get out your parts lists for proven systems and share (Please)...

What the heck good is a place like this if no one shares (just sayin).

Sharing any knowledge on the topic of server builds and software configs HERE will be much appreciated.

I know of a lot of people that could benefit from your expertise

as I just can't find anything on the web that really delvs into the subject of

DIY builds which include a parts list of a tried and true system.

Sure, there is a lot arguing going on out there over which MoBo to use, and which CPU is the best,

but nothing that breaks down which is best for specific applications (i.e. what is the server going to be used for).

verifies that information against a (internal if possible) database.

then send SMS based on that information, waits for response and then executes cmd.

Database will be user accounts and needs to allow individual account updates via web-page,

with encryption for security if possible.

This is all it needs to do , but it needs to do in real time :o .

Of course, I need to access this server from anywhere, securely.

What kind of incoming information are we talking about? Are you talking about filtering a particular website and then notice someone like an Administrator, that that website has been blocked because such and such was trying to access it.

Or are you trying to do something like a botnet that receives information from host controller and tells it what to do?
