RFID hacking

Anyone fooled around with RFID? I'm particularly interested in making my own reader/writer. I spoke to some people at defcon who said that I could even (theoretically) make one out of my arduino.

They do have kits that you can make your own RFID read/writer for not alot of money but the down side is that it wont work with every type of RFID chip so do your homework
