You won't regret ditching it and the USB modem (most of) those damed POS things use system resources (memory processor) to work.
I'll ber you any thing if you get a ADSL modem router you'll see a nice speed up of your machine :)
Just be sure to RTM and secure it first before unleashing it onto the WWW :)
You may also need to forward some ports directly to one of your PC's if your used to doing certain things :D
Don't get frustrated though it's a learning curve and the manual/google/Hak5 (well me if I know anything that is lol) is here to help you learn :)

They have a get out of jail free card
You guys forget that Vista is supposed to give you access to the 'Live' network
So all they will say is yes but were using this to remove our monopoly on customers only being able to play on 'Live' through an Xbox/360.
On the trade off though they are supposed to be doing simultaneous vista/360 launches after Vista's release :) Which I believe is where Halo 3 was supposed to come in (If I recall correctly from E3) oh but wait now Vista is delayed until 2007 :( and it's looking like Halo 3 will be Nov 06

Ooo you so need one of these before you can start world domination...

Is there anyway of banning him from making topics, just letting him post replys. That would be fair in my opinion.
That would be an awesome feature for any forum or when they post 'topic withheld pending moderator spam check'. Neet idea stingwray not so much of a ban as a slap on the wrist and saves on the DB for here no?

And the future shall be clean by the use of Ajax - maybe a UK joke that one?
Seriously its dammed cool stuff and with things like Nintendo DS's running Opera and supporting Java/Ajax (no flash, PDF, etc - it seems) there's a lot of potential customers/users out there.
Edit Time to learn Ajax I'll be over there Ajax-qlating :D - okay I'm done now... anyone got any tissue?

Have you tried running dxdiag ? just type it in the run box to load it
Also full Directx 9c just incase your having problems with the web installer - DX9c also comes as a part of the SP2 pack
Other thing to try uninstall the driver reboot the PC and it should reinstall it

Run the memory by SPD and if you have 2 simms take one out just try one
If the voltage for the simms is adjustable (check bios maybe mobo jumper) check with simm manufacturer it's correct
Hmm http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=32133

Oh for those in the US most of our stated prices include VAT (TAX) :)

Good deal for 400GB, but its not SATA2 and it is a model of a drive two generations back.
320GB 7200.10 SATA2 has just hit £70 which is the best value for money if you want the latest drive.
I need to catch up with HD tech

Shame your cannot get to command prompt in XP with CD-rom support all you need is (assuming you have the XP disc in the drive d: )
expand d: i386 hal.dl_ c: windows system32
There is another driver too if you want to use ACPI again:
expand d:i386halacpi.dl_ c:windowssystem32
then you have to delete the current hal.dll file in the sys32 folder and rename the halacpi.dll file there to hal.dll
