  1. Which one is better for wardriving now a days? I'm trying to decided will I use my kismet or airodump-ng based script on my Raspberry Pi for wardriving and I would like to use airodump-ng becaues with it everything seems to run more easily but is kismet better?

I have two setups one with kismet and one with airodump-ng so both goes but I try to choose one and make it as good as possible...

  2. Just wondering...

    Interceptor page says:

"the victim PC doesn’t know the Interceptor is there and you’re ready to connect and eavesdrop from a safe and convenient distance via WiFi."

Isn't it really simple to protect yourself from Interceptor? Example on procurve switched it's possible to get port disabled and alert when device mac-address changes? So if network is properly done this will not work on it?

Or will Interceptor hide it's mac-address some how?

So when network is protected and mac-address changes victim will notice that he's computer is not in the network anymore?

More about that example here (PDF): https://encrypted.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CCAQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fftp.hp.com%2Fpub%2Fnetworking%2Fsoftware%2FSecurity-Oct2005-59906024-Chap09-Port_Security.pdf

  3. Is it possible to connect phone (Nokia N900) to my laptop using SSH via bluetooth?

Just thinking about running example airodump-ng on laptop and then connecting to that laptop from my phone so I could see what my laptop is doing or even running software on it.

Sorry my bad english but I hope that somebody understood what I'm trying to explain =)

  4. I have a friend who specialises in camera security and after what he told me I'd never trust wifi cameras. After what I've seen on the net I wouldn't trust wired if they are not air gapped from the normal network either.

If wifi camera is 802.11x kind of camera it is really easy to get those jammed with wifi jammer and if it's 2,4 GHz and not 802.11x kind of camera then it's easy to watch video from those cameras example with Wireless Camera Hunter:

    http://blog.petrilopia.net/security-2/wars...-camera-hunter/

Some of those cameras use same frequency as baby monitors so it might be possible to send your own video with baby monitor camera to those receivers... (Sorry my bad english... I haven't got enought coffee).

  5. Strange to see water cooling in this kind of show... It was cool probably about 10 years ago but it has been gone few years already.

Now a days water cooling is not so cool when you can buy everything from stores and there is not so much DIY feeling and so on on this...

  6. Best way to convince them is to show them. If they have something you know to be secure, then show them how its broken. Break in(with their permission) and physically show them the process of what it takes and then let them decide. If they still don't want to fix it, then chalk it up to their problem, not yours and move on.

That's what I would answer too. I try to show peoples how they example can crack their WEP so they will see how easy it is. Only problem is that it's really thin line before this will be teaching peoples to hack other peoples networks :-D but like I have wrote to my WEP cracking "article" "WEP is so easy to crack that you should never ever use it anywhere.".

  7. strange that i've never heard of ninite.com. that'll be pretty useful since i'm always fixing idiot users computers on the side. thx

I was wondering that same... And it's actually pretty easy to let those "idiot users" to check and download/install what they need from that webpage.

  8. Seems like a complicated way to back up. I use Carbon Copy Cloner for my Mac, You can set it up different ways,

It depends so much what you need/want. I use TimeMachine CCC on my Mac too but with test/learn/family computers this has been IMHO best way: http://www.petrilopia.net/wordpress/softwa...of-your-system/. I will do that kind of "rescue USB" of my laptop too when I'm going to travel. I will keep all data on external USB-HD and if (or should I say when) my laptop goes crazy I can use that USB dongle and my laptop will be ok soon again.

And because I need to have many different OS setups it's easy with that kind of USB thingy (just have different files for every OS/setup what you want and it doesn't take long when you want to change example winxp to server2003 (and back =)

  9. Did I miss something? What was "73:69:78:20:64:72:69:6e:6b:73"?

You didn't miss anything... I'm pretty sure that 73:69... is just a answer to question what is the meaning of life?

So its nothing so important ;-D

  10. Oh btw... Darren... Could you tell me more about your hack laptop? Are you running Windows and then BackTrack on virtualmachine on vmware player or is it Linux with vmware player?

Just wondering cos I'm trying to use WinXP and then virtual BackTrack but Alfa doesn't work so well =(

    Darren?

    Edit:

    Don't bother to answer anymore...

  11. Congratulations man..

your experience makes me wonder about my open mesh.. I have a similar problem (not connecting to any SSID) and when I do it manually it doesn't connect fully and let the user browse the internet.

I had similar kind of problem when I tried to get my jasager work and then (if I remember correctly) problem was DNS. So when you connect your Jasager box manually check which DNS server IP's it gives to your clients.

If you ping www.google.com and google with IP does both fail?

  12. ya i understand thats what it does however of the 30 or 40 ssid's that go past around 12-15 are for coffee shops and airports all with no encryption...

i am using my work laptop a windows pc as my target so i did as u said and manually added a network by the name "abctestssid" it sat for a long time and then said failed to connect i also tried this on my ubuntu netbook and after sitting for a long time it asked me for the wpa key and that seemed odd to me

Have you tested that with your own wireless network?

I mean that if you have laptop x which works ok with your wireless network and then you turn off your wireless card on your laptop and now start up your jasager box and ICS and so on... turn off your wireless home network also.

After your jasager is running try to connect your homenetwork with your laptop... did it work?

If you have never connected to "abctestssid" with your laptop it probably doesn't work ok with jasager.

Sorry about my bad english but hopefully somebody understand what I'm trying to say =)

  13. Great episode Darren. I'm sure if I tried something like that at the airport here, I'd be stopped by security for sure.

Darn... and I was just going to take my hacktop with me at the airport ;-) ;-D and I know that I would have same problem that you said :-D Especially with my bad luck.

Oh btw... Darren... Could you tell me more about your hack laptop? Are you running Windows and then BackTrack on virtualmachine on vmware player or is it Linux with vmware player?

Just wondering cos I'm trying to use WinXP and then virtual BackTrack but Alfa doesn't work so well =(

Great episode... I hope that we will see more episodes like this =)

  14. I guess that my question fits here... my Jasager box works ok but for some reason I don't get anything to that webpages "log" or "connected clients" part. if I refresh that webpages jasager seems to be turned off and when I turn it on it will refresh that "connected clients" part but thats it.

Don't know what have happened to my little box... but it still works so that's just a little cosmetic thingy and nothing so important but if somebody knows how to fix that I would really happy hapy joy joy =)
