  1. Bob needs to come up with better reasons as to why he is using a wireless router in a public coffee shop. Like he doesn't trust an open network, so he is using his own router as a firewall between his PC and said open network. Or Bob just simply needs to be a bit more discrete, for example by changing the public SSID of his pineapple to whatever he wants it to be, then connecting wirelessly to his own pineapple and accessing the UI that way, and using his second radio in client mode to connect to the free public wifi. Then Bob can leave the pineapple completely hidden in his laptop bag/backpack, with no wires running to his laptop, and no visible flashing multi-colored LED's. In fact, Bob may want to set up his pineapple in his car prior to entering the coffee shop, so no one ever even sees Bob turning on his pineapple in the shop. Bob may go so far as to even want to park his car as close to the entrance of the coffee shop as possible, and leave the pineapple operating in his car. :)

  2. You got a bad Anker.

I ran the MKIV with my Anker 10000mAh on 12v and it would run for 12 hours, easy. I never ran it down to the bottom, but it would run seemingly endlessly.

I'd return that Anker and get a new one.

Yes - my IV and r-pi both run forever on it. The V though - different story.

  3. I was impressed by the old 4 hour pineapple juices, but once I started testing the current crop of samples from our new guys.... OMG these 12v suckers go for days. Literally.

Is that something attributed to differences between the new battery packs and Anker batteries? My anker 10000mah gets eaten alive on the 12v output setting. I'm talking full charge to down an entire bar easily within 30 minutes or so.

  4. In the release live stream Darren and Seb mentioned this, they said that if you connect your pineapple to an ap with a captive portal, from any client on the pineapple network go to the internet and aggree to the starbucks terms of service and then your pineapple will be tethered and all your clients on your pineapple wont have to aggree to it.

Yes - that's theoretically how things should work. You become the gateway for any device connected to your pineapple, and therefore any requests coming from a connected client appear to be originating from your pineapple. Thus, once you have your pineapple click through the first time, you're good to go from then on.

  5. The mark iv already is a router running openwrt. I am using it just as is - with the pineapple firmware on it. The chain is modem->lan/wan port on mark iv. It receives an IP & DNS settings from the ISP, set connection sharing between wifi and the lan/wan interface, and you're done.

  6. I think they'll at least double RAM and flash, and hopefully have an SD slot. The box screenshot said something about expandable memory, which seems to infer there will be an SD slot. If there's also a second internal radio as we've been speculating, I think that most certainly takes up the device another level or two.
