http://sourceforge.net/projects/ms-sys/
Linux program for writing Microsoft compatible boot records. This program does the same as Microsoft "fdisk /mbr" to a hard disk or "sys d:" to a floppy or FAT32 partition except that it does not copy any system files, only the boot record is written
ms-sys.sf.net
Another possibility to try out.......an no floppy drive hehe I still got mine in my main machine, never know when they will come in handy!!! (Almost never ofc :P)

I've got a Compaq CQ-61 8GB Ram and shared graphics. I raid 25man and have no frame rate issues. Bought my laptop last year for £329. Very cheap, an no I've got an 8Hr battery and 1TB hdd in it, runs epicly fine :) The guys are right though, anything for power gaming it's an alienware :@)

Also try K-Lite Codec Pack. It's very good. I was having problems with the VLC player and after I used the player that comes with the K-Lite Codec Pack, the problems seemed to vanish. Good Luck to you. :)
Cheers I did mention I've got K-lite :P I'm downloading them them now and there all fine, will hunt down the problem later, if it starts up when I download season 3, we shall see I am sure :)
Cheers for all the help guys.

http://www.ambience.sk/fdisk-master-boot-record-windows-linux-lilo-fixmbr.php - Go hear and try it, see what happens.
If the rest is stuffed no hard in trying. I think.................

VLC is my main player, have iTunes aswell, trying them both. Full codec pack from K-Lite if I remember rightly.
It's a little strange I know, but I'll just jump between formats tbh.

Ok this is rather strange..........
S2 E5 mp4
Attempt 1 - No Sound
Attempt 2 - No Sound
Attempt 3 - Sound
Attempt 4 - No Sound (Just to test)
Who knows!!!

Kind of straight forward me thinks -

Go here follow the steps. They speak for themselves really. If it works WOOT! If not! Run fixboot from your XP Disc (you do have one or?)
Then once thats done, do what the guy says "sudo update-grub" in the terminal since you've got Grub2.
Try that and see what happens........then we carry on :P

Aloha,
So after finishing S1 of Hak5 I've moved along to S2 so as I have been downloading them all, from there individual pages in mp4. An so I've come across a little problem. Got all of S2 however, only episodes 1,2 & 4 have sound the rest don't -.-
I just know this is going to be something so stupidly small I'm going to slap myself :S
Any ideas as to why I've downloaded an cannot hear a dam thing :(

If there are Uni's that don't have this this they should do! I don't know if there is anything offical in the USA, over here in the UK, we did a few RootThisBox type challenges while I was studying against few Unis that our Uni had partnered with.
You should get your own going man, drop a line to head of tech asking for contacts at other Uni's work it that way. Not speaking for him but I'd contact Sam Bowne from CCSF (google it), he might be up for something like that :P Unless he's busy :P
Either way doing it yourself, may be a chunk of work, but would be an epic project tats for sure. I'd join in with that for sure.

Dual Boot Ubuntu+xp, Xp No Longer Boots

You don't need one mate, just learn by mistake, I know it sucks but it's the best way. My Backtrack install was a right pain had to re-do it 4 times before it was correct (don't ask :S).
What are the spec's on your machine? If I were you I'd just VM it, so much easier!! I know having a dual boot machine is handy (Mine is WIn7/Backtrack5) but I use it for work mostly. Other than that I've got a machine with Win7, Ubuntu and XP all VM'd. It makes a whole lot easier and also you don't have to worry about this happening again! Besides it's stupid easy to build a Pen Test Lab this way.
