  1. Another thing, before I get myself a new usb adapter, I have been thinking about one of those homemade antennas for a usb adapter. They look very simple yet effecting, in some sites stating that they increase range up to 10 miles! yea, right. Anyway, I took one of those cookware things, the ones you use to run water through pasta, and I just poked around a bit with the usb positioning it every which way in the thing. Nothing different. No new signals, the old signals are detected with the same strength. Maybe Im doing something wrong, or maybe there is something I am not doing at all.

  2. btw,

    pro·mis·cu·ous (pr?-m?s'ky?-?s)

    adj.

Having casual sexual relations frequently with different partners; indiscriminate in the choice of sexual partners.

    lol

Is it possible for winpcap to update its compatibility, ever, so taht it supports my card? ANYTHING i could do ?

  3. crap

I GOT IT FOR $5.30 Though!!!

really, thats the only reason I had bought the card, because it was free after rebate, except the 5.30 for shipping. I was gonna buy myself a wifi adapter once I had a laptop, but I would have definately done some compatibility research first.

  4. Hi guys. I have an Airnet 108mpbs Wifi USB adapter and cannot use it on my linux livecds. I've tried knoppix and backtrack and it isnt detected there. On the website it doesnt mention linux capability so I cannot have any complaints about that. Anyway, what I am looking for, is a windows packet sniffer. Ive tried some, like ethereal and wireshark, which seem to me exactly the same, and they do not work for me. They are too complicated and I think do not detect my adapter as well. What I want to find is an app, which detects my Airnet USB, detects the signals that Im able to detect with NetStumbler, and is able to crack the wep encryption via packet sniffing. Please help me out. Thanks.

  5. Usually, as soon as an episode came out, I downloaded the xvid version right away to get the best quality of my favorite podcast but now, I don't even watch the whole thing if I'm streaming. It just isn't that interesting anymore, I mean they got a doctor to talk about sicknesses now? She did provide some useful information, but that doesnt belong on a "technology and comedy video podcast". Now don't get me wrong, im not "hating" on hak5, I just dont want it to fail as a podcast and lose its audience, because then it will be hard getting us back. I was going to post this in the suggestions forum for the show, but it's full of crap that isn't related to the show; also a thing that is out of place. Anyway, I feel that you guys just ran out of material, but still want to get credit for doing the show, so you post whatever crap you can to fill up the standard show time. Ocassionally you do find some interesting material but its not that saturated anymore. Look at my comment as a suggestion, not critisism, although in it is in a way.

  6. i played cs about half a year ago, then i stopped. a week ago i thought i'd try it again, i start up steam, and i get the usual login screen, except that there is absolutely no writing there. no "username" or whatever it is I dont even remember now. So i enter my shit anyway and press enter. It actually logs in, and there is the ad of some new game, the pictures are there, yet no writing. in the game list, i could see the small icon of 1.6, but cant see it saying Counter-Strike. Basically, NO WRITING. so i tried over the course of a few days, reinstalling. did it about 5 or more times, still, whenever i install, the same thing, no writing. any suggestions? Maybe a fuller uninstallation which includes editing registry?

  7. what possibility would you say, would there be of the computer replacing all the deleted files (5 files) in the config folder as it says, upon startup and after recovering the boot.ini file, of it actually working again. in other words, as soon as it saw the missing files, the windows automatically replaced them and put blank passes on the accounts and the only thing that messed up is the boot.ini which is fixable through kellys option 1. what possibility is there of that happening

  8. i am not allowed to take the laptop home from school. i can only use the laptop 30 mins a day for a programming class. one person in each class is assigned a laptop. say if after my programming class, another class comes in, one kid is assigned a comp that i had just used.

  9. i wasnt sure of whether the files were supposed to be FILE.LOG or just FILE so i took out SAM, SAM.LOG, SYSTEM, SYSTEM.LOG, and SYSTEM.sav. Therefore, all of these files were missing. AS i understand NOW, only if i took out the SAM and SYSTEM files would the password be reset, but since i took the others out as well, it is broken now.

  10. schools. i cant say i updated because i didnt have admin privilages. by the way, how do u get to type in the recovery menu? i've only worked with recovering once, and didnt take much note of it (it was a long time ago) and I didnt see any where, where i could type in the commands.

by the way, i just took a look at hiren's bootcd, looks VERY good. but is it like knoppix with an easy to use interface? also, so you are saying that I use Active Password Changer 3.0, Offline NT/2K/XP Password Changer, or NTPWD to reset the password, then boot out, and boot the winxp disk and recover?

  11. and keeping in mind that i put it foreign sam, sam.log, system, system.log, and system.something else into the computer, and that it shows problems with boot.ini file, the windows repair will still fix everything?

  12. you seem like you are smart, but the foul language ruins everything. I am not complaining, just asking for you guys to address my problem seriously, and give it a little more thinking as if it were your own.

  13. i need to fix it dude, think of something. like here i found, bart pe something that takes your working windows files and replaces them when you boot a broken comp. another thing i found, windows xp usb edition. about the same.

listen, if things get desprate, reinstalling xp is still not on my list because the legal version of it was installed and i wont buy a legal version just for that. seriously think. please.

  14. I dont have the originals because everything gets deleted somehow on my usb once i take it out. I can get a friends usb and get him to boot and steal the sam and all other files, will that work? The passwords were the same too for both mine and his comp. And what about the boot.ini slash hal.dll problem?
