so in that case any board that has a ICH10R would work with ESXi?

The P6T Deluxe V2 shown in Episode 519 has a ICH10R, which is supported by ESXi. Just look for a board with a compatible south bridge.

when you say south bridge you mean a mobo that has one of these as the data controller?

Basically, i'm building a home sever for a friend.

12gb ram

9tb

and would like to run some kinda of bare metal solution on it. But because of my low budget I can't really afford a 3rd party RAID card, so does anybody know of any mobos that ESXi / Citrix XenServer supports in terms of storage controllers. I wouldn't be using RAID so that's not a concern if it's not supported. Just aslong as I can access the drives (SATA II)
