  1. when I still get 0 kb/s for my bit rate (according to iwconfig). It looked like you had me setup in a different order except for that last command which was "dhclient3", even doing it without the "3" gets me the same results.

"No working leases in persistent database - sleeping."

That's the final line of dhclient no matter what. Posting if it's useful...

  2. I got it to work now, thank you. I have a problem when I start x I can't right click (the square) so I have to restart to drop back to terminal. Also can't seem to get wifi, have WEP so I do

    iwconfig eth1 essid "<error 411>" key s:<key_here>

then dhclient eth1 and get no IP...

  3. Meanwhile as I await my saviour to post the wireless files, can I install the rest of Debian and at a later time update the wireless yes? If yes, I'd like to setup games and the such on the zipit2 so it can be useful in the meanwhile. Thing is, is that I'm not really good with linux so I don't know how to transfer setup files if that is at all possible.

  4. I know the shutdown command, but I'm stuck at the screen with the thing with a fake beak and I can't type for shit. I didn't go any further than writting the linux partition with phsydiskwrite, that's when it hit me that I forgot the wireless files.

  5. So it turns out that I forgot to copy the damn wireless files, but I remembered to rename it. I did the Windows way so I already overwrote the files. I was wondering if anybody still has a copy because this seriously sucks. I already tried reformatting to FAT32 and starting over, but I only got the z2script.sh file.

If anybody knows why I can't turn off my zipit would you please tell me how. After I flashed it the first time I have to take out the battery to turn it off.

    Thank you in advance!

  6. I was wondering if anybody here could help me figure a way to minimize the topmost window using nircmd. The problem I'm having is that it minimizes the command prompt when it pops up and it doesn't focus on another window.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  7. Reason I ask is because keepass 2.09 requires .NET 2+ and I have lots of portable stuff, so I was curious. Mono sounds cool, but is there a way to get it portable so any .NET program (such as keepass) will run?

  8. So this last code zeros the empty space?

    # dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/delete.me bs=8M; rm delete.me

Doing the "dd" method means only restoring for my computer? The extention ".img" is used for usb installers, so there could be a way to get an iso from that or just convert the usb into an iso? The Clonezilla seems cool, would like to do this without burning a new cd. Sorry if I'm asking too much, just really get this copy/backup accomplished.

    Thanks for the help guys!

  9. I spent some time making ubuntu my own all the way down from the Alt. install, now I would like to make an iso of the way I made things so I could quickly get back to it in case I fuck something up (like always). I tested Reconstructor, but it seems to want me to customize WITHIN the app & it didn't make the iso for some reason...Do I need Clonezilla or something? I know about "dd" but that would do the entire HDD which is...kinda big...Any help is much appreciated!

  10. I like xubuntu, but your right, it's not quite as light as I like it to be.

lopez1364, your an arch user, can you tell me if updating nvidia via pacman is equivalent to the update like debian?

I also have a question about setting up cpufreqd, I might not have set it up right. The laptop still get pretty hot.

  11. I'm on Arch Linux, so wouldn't "pacman -Syu" get me the updated driver or would I need to do something else? Via the pacman way I'm all up-to-date.

I just did it and I got xorg-server, mesa and glib updates (two others but are irrelevent).

  12. Yeah, I sorry. I posted this on another forum and nothing happened. So my computer is really a laptop Compaq Presario CQ50 with everything stock execpt the OS obviously. In windows everything ran fine.

I've actually fixed it myself with a low-tech hack...*drum roll* placing my diablo2 game box under my laptop so it doesn't touch my glass desk! My first guess was that the laptop was over heating. Well after playing with cpufreqd (I set cpufreq_conservative to start on boot) the temp was fine, but it still shut off. When I checked the fan I touched the glass abit too, that was the real kicker, it was hotter than the laptop! So I placed a book under it and tested it...well lets say I've been playing ever since...=]

I really don't mind the low-tech hack, I would just like to plainly fix this so when I go somewhere (it is a laptop after all) I can still play games and do work.

  13. I recently installed Arch, formerly xubuntu, both of which shut down while playing games. I've installed cpufreqd, but I don't really know how to use it. I just installed the nvidia driver and have a really nice screen. Anybody know how to help me?

  14. I need help setting up my pfSense box.

I have a router with Tomato firmware installed on it that uses the 192.168.1.1 address to connect to it, which is the same address that pfSense needs to connect. I've used default install for everything. I've even changed (to the best of my ability) the IP required (start and stop address ranges were 192.168.1.2).

This is a dedicated box now since I inevitably formatted during the install so it's all good =]

  15. You bumped it, I'll now answer it.

To make this script completely useful use:

    set "drive=%~d0"

This is saying that your using the drive that the script is running from, so you could even use this on your local computer because it'll just pick the C partition (or the one your using).
