  1. I too am having the same issue. After doing some checking I still haven't found anything helpful. Does anybody know what causes this problem?

I tried TS grinder a few months ago.. From what I gathered the vulnerability that TSgrinder takes advantage of has long since been patched. It might work on a windows 2000 or xp no service pack install. I got the same error as mentioned above. Please correct me if I am wrong. What OS ver. was your victim box running darren during the demonstration you did?

  2. Is there any point to this certification? I could train a monkey high on crack to do any job that might find it useful. computers are like lego and not the mindstorm stuff, the shitty plastic blocks.

This is somewhat tru; however like previously stated it's about getting jobs. Sure you might not need to take the test to prove your knowledge on the stuff covered on the exam, but it looks much better to a potential employer to show "hey I proved I know this and I took the time and effort to study and or schedule the exam". The A+ is a decent way to get your foot in the door in IT, we all know the job market is very competitive so any advantage you can get is good.

This coming from someone who has passed the A+, Network+, Security+, and MCSA exams.

  3. Out of interest, any of you touch on MS System Center Operations Manager 2007? Damn nice bit of software I'm implementing atm, but complex, especially when it comes to the architecture.

I've played around with 2005 and got it setup on a single server. It is kinda cool, but a pain to get the results you want. Still like drinking from a firehouse. I read a book on it when I was first setting it up. That database gets big quick. The thing I didn't like was, the process of creating your own custom alerts is not very intuitive.

  4. the test is not bad, U can download practice tests on the internet, exam simulators. If u can do well on that you will pass the test. Its like 270 for the test i think, if your going to school you instructor might be able to get you half off of the exams.

  5. regarding the segment about converting physical machines to virtual. Have you not tryed VMware converter? http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/. Its a new bit of free software VMware have produced that will make a virtual image of your server across the network, and store the files on a network share of your choosing. It's really easy to use.

thats pretty tight. Have you tried it yet? Any driver conflicts?

Recently I had to do a P2V conversion at work, and settled on VMware converter it was extremely easy, and it worked great with two win2003 servers running hardware raid.  Windows has a more complicated way (virtual server migration toolkit) there is also a zen based suite out there that does this.
